Are involved in High School Bowling?  Coaches, Players, Sponsors, and where?  I'd like to find out about their experiences and what it is like across the country.

When I was in school, my coach was a Bronze level coach who was part of the program as his son bowled before I was there.  He volunteered his time and knowledge and considered success based on bowler's improvements.  My mom and another bowler currently coach the team, they are not certified coaches, just volunteers.  They have to work as a team as my mom is more of the motivator and can point out the obvious problems and the other guy handles the more technical stuff.  Most of the coaches up here are volunteers with experience that ranges from coaching junior leagues to being certified Silver level.  Its rather scattered up here.

I did not coach during "practices" but I helped some of the bowlers in high school bowling.

About the same here. Things are all over the board.  Some programs have 6 coaches that are certified some have no coaches.  Some have parents that coach or help some just show up on their own and have nothing.  Some athletes have private coaching including up to Kegel trips.  Some wing it.  There is a mix of junior bowlers and kids that do not bowl any YABA leagues and never will.  It seems you never know who or what you are going to compete against until you are competing.  We're taking kids that literally have never bowled anything other than Saturday night with friends and teaching them to bowl from scratch.  This is a bowling ball.  This is how you pick it up.  Posture,timing Etc. Etc.  It's great to see someone jump 60 pins in average in a year.  It's funny to see them coming off the approach shaking their head  going "coach that really works I hate you and smiling you're right!".  When they watched the videos yesterday you could hear "I do that?".  Many watched themselves bowl for the first time.

The USBC is setting up a program for High School Coaches.  

Bowling's Top Players to Serve as Interscholastic Coaching Certification Program Trainers

The United States Bowling Congress has announced an all-star lineup of the sport’s top athletes who will serve as certified trainers for its new Interscholastic Coaching Certification Program slated to begin this summer.

With the rapid expansion of interscholastic bowling programs, USBC High School, USBC Collegiate and USBC Coaching have joined together to create the coaching certification program to address the need for coaches.

Looks like something maybe done.  One of the things that worries me is that many kids do have more bowling knowledge than their coaches.  There are many great bowlers that are really bad at coaching.  There are also coaches that flat do not know what they are talking about! and some high school bowlers know it.  Nothing makes me cringe more than hearing the other teams coach yelling throw it harder!!!!  I'm going to Orlando in a couple of weeks and from what I understand this new program for coaching will be presented at the conference.

Look around.  You might give the people at bowl.com a ring and ask them where in Montana high school bowling is.  They are showing it to have club sport levels.  You might be able to get in on the ground floor.  From their map New Mexico and Wyoming are the only 2 states with nothing.  New Mexico surprises me.

Not much on the new program but USBC will soon start honoring high scores for high school bowlers.  This is not done by the YABA portion of USBC.  From what they said it will be pins not rings.  Rings have a monetary value as opposed to pins.  HHHMMMM,,,   yeah ok.  The summit did have a lot of good fund raising info and the meet the college coaches/what they are looking for was very good.  Still high school bowling is all over the place.  The one thing they did say if I understand this right, the new program is pre level I????
