this site is so boring now, no one posts, just another reason to make more of us want to go adult sooner, we are almost at vegas and there is no pre tournament trash talking going on or anything, lets get something going people

And that might be the essence the problem of many "youth" bowlers, competition in bowling = trash talking. Let your ball and your bowling do your talking.

YOUTH IS WASTED ON THE YOUNG!!

dear teenagers and younger bowlers,

us "old guys" are not trying to infringe on your turf.  and trash talk is fine if that what turns  your crank . . .

however, if you want to be a smartass, i'll come right back at you along with alot of other posters.  this isn't an arguement, it's a promise.

the vast majority of responses to younger bowlers are constructive, not destructive in nature.  you should be mature enough to realize that.

think about it . . .

My criticism was of teens acting like children, like spoiled babies that have to scream a temper tantrum of obscenties and insults to make sure other teens pay attention to them.

And, NO, trash talking has never been part of bowling. It has been part of a child's bahavior while bowling, but not a man's. And age is not a sign of being an adult; behavior is. Being 25 or 30 or 35 does not mean you're an adult; it only means you're old enough to know better.

Soon all teens wil be old enough to know better; but will you behave like an adult or remain a baby forever? That's up to you.

When my teen and pre-teen act like children, they are so treated.  So should always be the case.  Now get to bed children.

If you REALLY want to trash talk, then here's how to determine if you have the stuff.  (1)  Come to my home lanes;  (2) Bring money; (3) Let me put out PBA pattern A or B; (4) We bowl.  For real.  For money.  You talk trash.  I'll throw the ball; (5) See if you keep enough money to get home or if you have to borrow from me.

Ok Phillip you can bet with a minor, then you can go to jail to everyone else, you think being an "adult" is coming on our forum and believe it or not, you guys are "trash talking" to us about us being teenagers so technically your crossing your own words. Maybe we trash talk because unlike the "adults" we cant drink and make fools of ourselves when we bowl, we dont have sidepots, some tournies have brackets for scholarship, still not the same as bowling for money, it keeps it fun, alot of the adult leagues i know they talk a little trash also, ALL sports you do, it pushes the competition to do better and makes it more challenging, you think pro athletes dont talk trash, come on. We dont go into your boards and calling you non people, just "adults" you know we could easily start ruining your guys forums, but no we are acting "adult" about it and staying out of yours so stay out of ours, because if you come here then I guess as you all would say, your just creeping down to our level.

I just recently moved to mens league, and a majority of the ADULTS i bowl with trash talk, I let my bowling speak for itself, maybe give a gesture here and there.

I would have to agree with most of the youth that in YABA tourneys and such trash talking is a way of getting to know each other and have a little fun, no harm no foul.

Lets them be who they are and don't criticize them for it.

Let them be who they are?  What if they are serial killers?  This is silly.  Wrong behavior should be treated as such.  As wrong.  This "let everyone be" mentality is fine until they do something YOU don't approve of and then its "punish them."  Well, it is wrong to trash talk.  It is wrong to loudly say "ten pin, ten pin" as an opponent is in her delivery for the 10th.  It is wrong to be classless, clueless, crude, crass and catty.  And adults are the ones who should try to say it is wrong.

You see, allowing bad behavior or silly notions to go unchallenged gives them power and legitimacy.  When we allow someone to wrongly accuse another of a crime or of racism or to use racial insults because "they" have some special insight, we are saying that behavior is acceptable.  Except it isn't.  Nihilism is not an answer.  Anarchy is not preferable to rules and regulations.  Questioning rules and authority of part of growing up and learning.  Acting out is juvenile.  There is a difference.
