Author Topic: Dynorooz shoes...how are they, and how much should I look to spend? (Read 5149 times)

I like my SST5 LX's, but I was a little peeved when the heel started to tear free after about 6 months. I'm about to win a bunch of money in my work's bracket pool (probably) and I'm thinking of trying out a pair of Dynorooz. I really like the styling of a couple of them, like the Shufflers and the S 1500s in black/burgundy. How do they hold up? Also, where is the best place to get them? Are shoes one of the things that it's always better to buy online, or should I support my shop on them?

I have had my Tour Ulras for 3 years and they are still in great shape.
I would estimate 1500 games on them. They are very light and comfortable too.
I paid $135 + shipping from Buddies.

I've had my Tour Ultras 2 years and love them. IMO the best shoes made, soles and heels outlast the other brands by far. Price depends on which shoe you order 90.00-135.00 is a fair price. Every one I've talked to that has them wouldn't bowl without them.

I love my S1500-04 Black/Burgandy. The only problems I have had are the laces wore out after 3 weeks, and I have had an eyelet break. If I had it to do over I would have gone with the Tour Ultra's, just because of eyelets.
The shoes are comfortable, and honestly feel like slippers.
Buy them online if you want to save $15-20.

Just finished my 12th game on my S1500-04 Black/Burgandy and I love 'em. Light and comfortable. Only problem so far is what I've experienced with any new shoes - the soles need to be broken in. Normally I'd use the no. 4 but right now it slides more like a no.2 (ie, not much). Time and work will take care of that however. Paid 130, but saw 'em somewhere for under 100.

Those are the exact ones I'm looking at, Rags, either those or the shufflers. No, I don't consider myself a shuffler, I just like the styling with the black and orange. If the Ultras came in more interesting color combos, I'd consider those, but I want to get away from my presently boring SST 5 LXs.

Do the Dynorooz come with an extra heel and slide sole?

Mine (all) come with 4 slides soles and 4 heels. I think there are more available (maybe 2 more?). Check out the Dyno web site (I don't remember the URL, but google it.)

I purchased a cheap pair called tour deluxe black. 2 interchangeable heels and two interchangeable heels(I've purchased others too)!

Everyone loves the way they look...me too! I love the way they fit!

I bowl at a center with very slippery sticky synthetic approaches(very touch).

When I go to centers with the new synthetic(textured) approaches or wood I find I absolutely nail my finish position!! However at my home center with my new Dynorooz I'm always a little wobbly.

My theory is the outside boarder and the stiching in that border is always there and too slippery. I am about to purchase a pair of the SST 6s as I don't remember having this problem as much on Dexter...

However the problem I had with Dexter was tear up of the toe area of the trailing foot(I drag it!) and I also had problems with their rubber heals sticking on my SST 5s as a result of sharp edges on the rubber heels!

I like the more rounded front edge of the Dynoorooz heels! I have noticed there are new heels available for the SST6 (tri heel which have a more blended heel shape) and I notice many bowlers really tearing it up with these heels on our sticky slippery synthetics!

I intend to continue using my Dynorooz shoes everywhere I go that I know I have no problem with this little complaint I have(just one center) and use my new Dexter only there!

I got the Dyno-Thane ABS Mens Sport Ultra Black/Gold RH, and I love them. They are super comfortable and have had no problems with them at all. I think I only spent like $90 plus shipping from bowling.com

I have the Sport Deluxes. I have had them for 3 months. I'd say that have in the neighbor of 150-200+ games on them and have no problems with them. Only complant I have is the inserts that put in the Sport Deluxes are very uncomfortable. I replaced the inserts with the ones from my SST 6's and have not had a problem since. I would highly recommend them. I will never buy a pair of Dexters again. Went through 3 pairs (2 SST 5s and 1 SST6) in a 4 year period.

I have a pair of the white Tour Ultras (3 1/2 yrs old) and the black/burgandy Sport Ultras (4 mos. old), both of which are very light and very comfortable. I have found that the Sport Ultras fit just a tad bit bigger than the Tour Ultras though. I just wanted a different color shoe. The Sport doesn't come with the cleat soles and unfortunately, the shoe laces on them were pretty flimsy for me - I had to buy another pair of laces for them, but no other complaints. Unless you can get a good deal through your pro shop, look to spend anywhere from $140-220 range. Your best bet would be to go online throught buddiesproshop.com or any other reputable eBay seller - prices should be dramatically lower ($100-150 plus shipping).

The thing about it that there is so much versatility to be gained with either line is heel/sole combinations. You won't get that versatility with the lower lines from Dynaroos.

If I end up with enough winnings from leagues this season, I'm thinking I might replace my three-year-old entry-level Dexters (Ricky?) with some "real" shoes. The pro shop here sucks (you'd think it'd be tough to screw up shoes, but he has) and the one I'm going to is two hours away.

Because of that, I'm tempted to order online and save some money. How do the different brands (or styles) run, size-wise, compared to normal shoes? I wear a 9 4E (wide) or a 9.5 4E in New Balance. Do Dexters or Dynos run pretty "normal" or do you find you need to order a slightly different size?

Shelley, I would probably go with the Sport Ultras. As I said before, the Sport Ultras seemed to run a tad big, but you should be able to use whatever size tennis shoe as the basis for your shoe. Also, look into purchasing the Adjust-a-heel from dynaroos. Whatever shoe accessories you can't find online, just get ahold Dynothane via their website - maybe you can order directly from them.
