bowling pins BRUNS VS AMF

ok i work in a bowling center we put brunswick bluemax pins in in august our scores went way down left them in for 13 wks took them out put old wood amflites back in and scores went back up same weight pins it is a amf house (AMF bowling machines) any comments or

Not sure when it started, but AMF is making pins for Brunswick now!

The Brunswick pins carry quite a bit different than the AMF pins, one of the houses I bowled at last season tried Brunswick pins last season and the averages took a 15-20 pin hit, everyone whined cause they couldn't string strikes or average over 2million a game

it takes about 100 games to break in new pins. bowling centers need to replace their pins in the summer before fall leagues and tournaments begin.

That is an interesting take on it. I personally feel with the house shots as easy as they are in most cases anymore i'd rather have the new pins that are just harder to score with, I am not a big fan of the excessive scores, but I have a different take on the matter than most it seems.

i would be safe to say that the averages dropped on average at least 10 pins. Its almost impossible to trip 4 pins on the new ones (they are bluemax) after being in 12 weeks that should be plenty of break in time. and the lane machine is a kegal kustodian. also bowling on anvilane   thx for the replys

Our center is about to find out.  New pins are arriving next week so I expect to see the scores drop when the center does put them into service.

Easy, Brunswick pins SUCK, AMF makes the best pins there is. AMF recently started making pins for Brunswick, as soon as Brunswick inventory was depleted.

You think those things are bad, try Twister pins, the all synthetic pins.  Now me, I liked them, they didn't carry for crap.  Millions of 4's and 4-9's.  Not many 10 pins.  But, I thought that was what was great about them.  You couldn't just throw messenger pins around like balsa wood.  Flush was good.  Oh well...  A challenge to high scores, geez, what a concept.....

Yeah, twisters blow even worse, first time I ever bowled on them was the first time they used them in Reno. I never saw so many 4 4-9 combinations in my life.
I have never had a problem knocking down brand new pins. The sound that they make is the best damn sound in bowling!

magicmike, i agree with you. i don't really care what brand of pins are being used. i think proprietors and center managers need to do a  better job at replacing cracked or broken pins. nothing ruins pin carry on great shots like cracked or broken pins.

New pins take awhile to break in. Part of the reason why you don't see a lot of new pins put in is due to how expensive they are. The Twister pins are suppose to have a longer life to them but carry sucks.

i love the twister pins, when they put them in for the summer here, they just fly all over the place, and are much better than the brunswicks IMO

I think there is a little inconsistency in manufacturing as well. One of the highest scoring centers in the country was having trouble with a round of Amflite's they bought so he decided to cut one open long ways along with one out of the previous round of pins. The voids in the pins were cut completely different. The void is what allows the pin to flex and not crack or break. They also help create a spring effect just like an aluminum bat or Titanium Gold Driver. We talked and we feel that had something to do with it. This center gets new pins every 2 years and changes them and rests them regularly.
