finger grips
« on: March 11, 2008, 02:02:24 AM »
my problem is i was bowling last night 4 games with new ball i had just gotten black cherry bomb buzzsaw.
now my grip size is a 3 for middle finger and 4 for ring  using visa lip grips after about 3rd game my fingers were swelling and could hardly get hand in the ball.
now i was playing around today tried placing my middle finger in the grip for my ring finger and it fit good had a little extra room for swelling but not that ball would slip off my hand.

i was wondering what everyone thought about just going up a grip size for both and if needed add a piece of tape

I have swelling in my ring finger, only. What I did was drill the normal size, 31/32 hole, then go back and drill 1 1/4 inch of 63/64. That with glue only on the sides, allows my insert some room for my finger, when it swells. If it is not swollen, I don't have a problem of feeling to big.

Just a thought.

You may not like the "feel", but it helps me when the old finger swells just enough to be uncomfortable.

there are some options like the one suggested.

which i dont know if its the same size but its basically a vacu grip. for me its the only way to go. I swell very fast and have gone up to as much as up 2 full sizes. from 3 to 5! but with vacu grips i stay at 3 and 2 1/2 all year round.

I've had the same problem as you described. Because generally you get such good lift with grips, I just went up one size to reduce friction and got away from quarter pitch or pillow grips. I also now pitch finger holes away 1/16 or 1/8. My fingers still swell, but at a much slower rate. This helped me get through tournaments without needing to change grips in the middle of block. Hope this tip helps you like the previous one.

Good Luck and Good Bowling.

try the ice grips from turbo they seem to be softer in my opinon, the vaccu grip is nice also but i prefer a little snug and if im going to a tourny i always take my glue and 2 sets of a size bigger that way if i have to i can switch. the silicone grips are nice to tried them they seemed to have a little give too
