Low Ball Tournament
« on: February 05, 2016, 12:46:36 PM »
I am entering a tournament that has a pretty cool format.  2 games regular bowling, 2 games no tap, and 2 games low ball.  My question is has anyone ever played in a low ball format tournament?    The rules for the low ball portion are You must knock down at least 1 pin per ball thrown. 0’s count as Strikes & Spares. Low score wins.
What is a good strategy for this format?

not sure of a strategy for low ball, but I do low ball "games" for practice. The goal is to not go into the channel and hit only 7 and the 10 pin. also, I take my time treating each shot like a "strike" shot.

I tend to rush on corners, especially after converting several in a row.

I wonder for the average bowler it might be better to try for 3 count each time.  If you aim for the 10 only, a channel gives you a mark, and if you hit very light on the 6 you're likely to get a 6 count or something.

That sounds fun, but I would not want to do the no-tap portion.  I think a tournament with only low-ball would be better.

At my local center, they only seem to have no-tap tournaments.
