WWPB Tournament Today
« on: May 26, 2007, 01:37:49 AM »
I am soon leaving for Santa Clarita Lanes and my second Western Women's Premier Bowler's Tournament.  It is 8 games across 16 lanes then they cut to the top 12.  The top 12 return tomorrow for round robin match play.

The WWPB tournaments attract some of the best bowlers in the area including Dede Davidson, Wendy McPherson, Missy Bellinder, Laurie Soto, Lauren Takahashi, and many others.  It is an experience to be able to compete with them, or at least on the same lanes as them .

I had 2 sessions with my coach this week and feel as ready as I can be.  It i also cool, Juan is going to be there.  He told me if anything comes up to just come and ask.

I'll report back!

Thank you all.  It was a great experience.  I learned I can hang with these ladies and I need to work on 7 pins.

Some of you may remember my first experience when I shot 1673 for 10 games and finished dead last.  Well that was not the case today.  No, I didn't make the finals, but I did much better 1503 for 8.

It was cool having my coach there, he helped me get lined up during practice.  He suggested either the Black Widow or Total NV targeting about 7-8.  I tried both and the Black Widow struck immediately, but after all considerations, I went with the Total NV.  It had a more defined roll and less skid thant the Widow.  Had I done better with 7 pins, I would have averaged in the 205-210 range.

Here's the scores in order bowled with the lane #s bowled on:
17-18   196
3-4     172
7-8     180
11-12   180
15-16   200
1-2     172
5-6     253
9-10    150
Total  1503

Thank you.  I got another surprise.  We all had to return at 5:30PM to sign pins given out to the ProAm entrants.  I got there and was told I was needed to bowl as a pro in the Pro AM.  What a blast!

I was sitting and talking with my coach and a lady came up behind me.  Juan tells me she wants my attention.  She hands me her pin and pen to sign.  I was taken by surprise.  It hit me "I am one of them."  I don't know how many pins I signed today, but it was cool!  I also signed a few shirts.

The format was adult/youth 9-pin no-tap.  Every bowler got a door prize worth a minimum of $25 (the cost of their entry).  The bowlers had a blast as did the "pros."  At least I know I did.  The amatures stayed on their same pair of lanes, we moved a pair after each game.

Scores: 251 - 181 (should have changed balls sooner) - 205 = 637

Wendy did not bowl this tournament, neither did Dede Davidson.  At the time of the initial post I did not know the roster. I stated some of the Ladies who do bowl when their schedule permits.

Missy Bellinder did not bowl the ProAM.  All of the amatures had a great time and no one complained about any of the Ladies they bowled with.  There was no prize money since the youth were bowling along with the adults.
