900 Global/AMF...I Challenge you!
« on: September 22, 2012, 09:11:37 AM »
The little engine that could..

I know that you CAN make the best equipment..I know you have more colors than blue red silver...I know you can make a ball that makes a left turn.
I remember Storm..They were this small company that no one took serious, sound Familiar.
This company started out of 3 peoples dream to make the best and the ball that started it was in my mind one of there best The BREAK.
I have stood behind your company from its beginnings and took alot from other companys-I say its time to show them what this company can do and give the Bowlers what they long for the best dam ball on the market!
If you think this is a lot of hot air remember the Virtual gravity-where would storm be now with out that 1 ball.
Remeber the Black widow-the zone-the freaking white dot you get the picture-one ball can change Every thing!

I now understand your post, it came from left field but i do understand. Global has built too good of a rep to fall by the waste side and they are going to continue to make great equipment. It just wont be in the main stream.

Doom,

I beg to differ. While the PBA doesnt directly provide the "wow" factor to sell equipment. They do provide a look into what the ball is capable of. For ex., Wes Malott and the Cell Pearl pulling Roto-Grip into the main-stream.  Rash, throwing brunswick (i.e. Nexus Solid) putting Brunswick into the 1A category. I dont think it necessarily sells balls but the tour gives the consumer the opportunity to get a look at the new equipment. Otherwise, the tour would be a bunch of Roto-Grip Outlaws, Storm IQ Tours, Brunswick Karma Urethanes and etc.

Wrong. Rash, Mallot, anyone else on tour can make a turd roll well. You think that Brunswick just now got into the A1 catagory?

I never watch the pros and say "Wow, that ball is going to look very similar in my hands!" Really?

Also, you're not routinely bowling on the animal patterns. Most guys are bowling on the china. I would use my Clutch or Train for the china, but not for the animal patterns.

And if you ARE bowling a PBAX league, I promise the 3 or 4 guys shim wrecking the pair aren't going to make them play the same lol.

True but is it a coincidence that when Malott started throwing Roto, striking and winning that Roto flew off the shelves. I threw Roto when it wasnt cool to throw Roto and was hyping their equipment for a while but never saw the response I do now. People 4 years ago, atleast in my area, were no where near as into Brunswick as hard as they are now. Im not saying that the Tour sells equipment, but im saying that if you see the ball on the lanes whether its animals or THS, you can atleast get an idea of the reaction of the ball than taking your drillers word. It  may be a tainted view of the ball but its a view none less. For the average Joe who doesnt understand numbers, seeing is better than believing.

Lol! And doom i dont believe that you havent looked at a pro bowler with similar stats and admired the reaction. Then again you could be one of the few.

Personally, I think 900G/AMF are doing just fine. Just as an example they just opened a brand new distribution warehouse in Europe. I honestly don't think not being registered with the PBA will affect them to the extent some think it will.

Wasn't Scroggins throwing the original Cell and winning just about everything before Mallot was signed? I think having Mallot signed and throwing the Cell Pearl and Illusions were icing on the cake for Roto Grip. They were on the map, they hit a game winner with the Cell. I don't think Mallot made that ball good, I think it was a pretty good ball anyway.

900G is just like Roto Grip was back in '06/'07, good things come to those who wait. All of there releases from day 1 have been good and their line ups make sense. As opposed to just making a ball to make a ball.

Just my 2 cents on the subject. Thanks for reading.

Righty,

I admire the skill of racers. They can drive a car at speeds I will never know, and manage to make it look effortless. I can not do what they do.

No one on tour has my stats. They would be out of a job lol. Sure, someone might whack it out there, but personally, Rash did nothing to help the sales of the first nexus in the recorded WSOB (Which, personally, I think should have stood for "Why, SOB?") Guy made a ton of shows, and on the show, he couldn't make that ball look good to me. I wouldn't have bought it.

Now, you look at someone like Britton, (videoballreviews) and you see something that is near human. His video reviews are much more of a selling point than the tour.

I agree with you Doom. And if the had my stats they'd look like Butch Soper. Lol! The only thing I'm saying is nobody looks at the bowler themselves and goes "he's making that ball look great, i gotta go get one" but when they see a guy over and over again using the same ball release or rolling great during the season with a company on the different patterns, it starts to put a plug into head. Thats all. And thats just my opinion. The major point is that with social media and other outlets, companies dont even need the tour to sell balls.

Britton and Trout do an incredible job of ball reviews, vids, and comparisons. He's the only one who still talks to the consumer in the vid to let you know what HE sees and not what the manufacturer wants you to see.  He also has realistic rev rate unlike the guy from tamer bowling who has like 600 rpms and has to stand in front of the ball return for EVERY new release. Still wondering how that's supposed to help the consumer.

Now, I am not a Brunswick guy (Tried back in the Ultimate Inferno/Nemesis days, and disliked it a bunch), but watching Britton throw the Nexxxus, I would put holes in one. I know that he and I have similar stats, and real world, my reaction might be close to his. Not that I need any help buying AMF/900, but his videos have really helped me. I even asked him questions about a couple of releases, and he had been a huge help.

(Props, Britton.)

TJ is just a monster. I throw it 18 mph, it's not going to do that much lol.

Who cares what others are throwing this is a thread about Global/Amf bowling brands-These other brands are ramping up there efforts to get more share of the market and they will do whatever it takes to get more-It would be ironic to find out that Globals biggest market is overseas.
