Anyone messed with changing Bank Pearl surface??
« on: February 15, 2011, 02:04:22 AM »
Anyone changed the surface on their Bank Pearl/used a different brand of polish?? I really like my Bank Pearl in the later games of league. But I can't help but notice how polish 900 Global equipment for me all tend to be pretty long and not extremely strong in the back. I am wondering if anyone else is like me and thinks that 900G polish is the longest of all manufacturers OOB finishes. I just see a lot of length without a big backend with all the polished (pearls) 900G equipment I have had.

i have one,im not an x's and o's person but i have mine drilled with a strong forward roll, and it went long for me and i throw in the 18-19 mph range with around 450 revs give or take...      i sanded mine a day ago,  i just use rubbing alcohol and a green scotch brite pad....i have yet to throw it, but i bowl tonite so if you want i can let you know how it works

I have done a good amount of expirementing with my Bank Pearl.  I have settled on 500 with 3000 over it with some polish.  I do think the 900 Polish is extremely smooth and needs to be broken down a little.

Yeah I really can't use it on the fresh cause it is just a little too lengthy and not enough recovery. I probably have 15-20 games on it so the polish has been worn off a little but I still feel I could get a little more use out of it if it was a little earlier or had a little more recovery downlane. But like I said it is awesome in the later games of league so I don't want to risk losing that reaction either. Kind of can't decide whether to leave it or try something else to try and get a little more use out of it.

I was also having this same problem after seeing a bit more oil this second half of the season I wanted to look for another ball stronger than my profit pearl and after drilling the bank pearl up almost exact it just skated,I tried moving more up the boards but it just wanted to slide,if I hit the dry boards on the money it would hook to the pocket with good hitting power, hower it gave no room to miss,so I took it down to 2000 grit and polishd it with beans sauce and it still doesnt even come close to out hooking the profit.

I dont know if I should take it down to 1000 or just knock the polish off of it now.

Mine outhooks my Profit, but my Profit is an over/under nightmare. I think I might mess with the surface some in the next week and see what I can come up with. I'll report back, I'll probably try 500 with Moon Shine over it first....

There is a huge difference and i can say for me it is better sanded then polished, shot 267-257-259...i played the same line the whole night, never had to move...nice consistent hook the whole night.  Never missed the pocket once, I had a shot at 800, needed 2 in the tenth and 4 pins and left a darn 9 pin....im glad i sanded mine!!!

I love the way mine rolls but as mentioned above i don't have much miss room with it. For me I can pretty much play the same line as my first Profit just with a different ball motion. I am going to knock mine down to 2000 and then hit it with a 4k pad and see what it does Friday. I have league in the morning on synthetics and a tournament that night on wood. It should be a good test as there is a great difference in how the 2 centers THS plays for me. Morning league is pretty much stand 30 w/left foot 10-7. Wood center was 43 w/left foot 17-12. The ball definatly does not like high flush there. Out of 6 high flush shots i had 2 fast 8's and 4 4-9's. I will update how it rolls after bowling Friday. Right now for lrague my favorite combo is my Raw Profit/Profit combo

Well I didn't get to throw it in the wood center as i got tied up at the shop and couldn't make the tournament. However i rolled it in my morning league and i must say it mad a tremendous improvement in the ball reaction. Same motion but substantially more recovery on missed shots. Didn't score well but that was because my spare shooting was absolutely horrible . Now it fits nicely between my Raw Profit and Profit

I noticed with mine at Ob it does skate a bit on fresh oiled synthetics, but I bowl one league on a wood house with guardian that changes weekly, friday night they had a higher volume than usual and the ball performed well...I like the reaction when it fits the shot, Im not sure if I should change it since I have two balls over it if needed...Has anyone just gone 1000ab + polish, how much does it change OB?
I did bowl a tourney saturday on wood lanes with a heavy volume and the ball didnt move at all, but I shot great with my 715T.....772 my second highest series..(787 being first)
