Ball Advise
« on: June 19, 2011, 08:55:30 AM »
I am debating on getting a new ball to go along with the others that I currently throw.  Most of the balls that I have thrown have been Lane 1.  Currently own a Pink Panther, Super Carbide Bomb and Solid Cobalt Bomb.  I am looking at the Eagle.  Would this ball fit into what I currently have, or is it going to overlap??  The pink seems to be my weakest ball, with the Super Carbide Bomb the strongest.  I have been playing around with the cover on the cobalt trying to tweek it a bit.  I just dont' want to get a ball that overlaps what I have and does not get the job done.  Bought a mo-rich awe sum revs and did not care for it.  Any thoughts are appreciated.

A lot of the Lane 1 balls have the diamond core in them which is a symmetric core shape. The Eagle has a strong asymmetic core which will get the ball to see much more of the midlane and more continuation on the backend. The Lane 1 balls are manufactured by 900 global so some of the covers could be similar. I don't think the Eagle would overlap anything, it would give you much different motion than any of the balls you are currently using.

All drilled balls are asymmetric even if a ball is symmetrical before drilled. What you always want to look at if you're not overlapping is the diff/int diff value. Every bowler should base their arsenal off a RG value - in your case it seems that you're comfortable/successful with low RG balls. Now look at your arsenal and see how the Eagles' diff is in comparison to the others. After that, look at the int. diff - core strength. It's easy to make an assumption over the net and say yes or no. This will allow to filter through your bag better and get rid of stuff that you may not need. I'm not going to answer the question for you. You know you and your game. See for yourself if the ball fits. Doing the research makes everyone a better bowler. If you have any questions...pm me.
