ok.. maybe he has a creature sitting in the shop not really sure... we will see.. if not i might take the option of drilling the maniac really weak and polish the hell out of it

Code will not fit inbetween the break pearl and the link, it is a fairly strong ball. It will be just as strong or stronger than the break pearl.

The Code is rated F65 and the Break Pearl is rated a F70.  The Code is also solid and doesn't reserve as much energy as the Break Pearl, so The Code doesn't jump nearly as much as the BP once it hits the dry.

I have a mild control drilling on my Code and it fits very nicely under the Break Pearl.  I've found my Creature Pearl to be less effective than the Code under most conditions, except fairly dry.

As the original poster said his F30 Link wasn't hooking (note he didn't say "isn't hooking enough"), it's my feeling that the he may have trouble getting the F40 Creatures solidly into the pocket also.

It's easier and more effective to make a stronger ball weak with drilling and coverstock adjustments than it is to make a weaker ball strong doing the same.

You won't want to polish the hell out of a Maniac.  Just take it up to 2000 or 4000.  It has a very controllable and mild reaction at 2000 on conditions when my Break Pearl is struggling to stay out of the nose.  Admittedly I don't have a lot of hand, but it's the same hand that's throwing the Break Pearl that's getting jumpy.

by the way the video is me taking a lot of hand out of the ball.. to see how much i put in the ball most of the time watch the rayzr video.. im somewhere between them now

I have both the creature pearl, and the break Pearl, both drilled rico, and both oob finish, and for me the break pearl is five boards stronger than the creature pearl.

Couldn't tame the beast that was the Maniac. Messed with surface....2000,4000...tried polish/no polish at higher grits. Ball for me was just always way stronger than s50, much closer to s70. Eventually sold it, could not fit it in....and believe me I tried.

sooooooooooooo i decided to drill the maniac and i have yet to polish it up

this ball is a BEAST!!!!!!!!!!! its finally started to tame a bit with a little lane shine on it but it was more than i expected
not exactly sure how far the Pin to PAP is but its over 5 inches and close to the track well over my middle finger at box finish i believe the ball even with the pin high got into a roll when it hit the lane.. i finally got my hand up the back of it and the ball rolled AMAZINGLY and fit really close to just below my break pearl.. i played the same part of the lane jsut the break pearl went a little bit further and was more snappy so hoping when i can get to a pro shop that can polish it i will do so and report back but so far i think the balls going to be perfect

leftyinsnellville,

As far as I was led to believe and as I look at the Code, it's a solid/pearl combination, not a "plain" solid. Many 900G and AMF balls are that way these days: Bounty, S75 Break, BreakPoint, N-Code, as well as the Code.

lsf_21 & golfnutFL,

The Maniac, as reviewed by both BTM and BJI, and as I see in the hands of a teammate, has the unusual characteristic of being an early rolling ball whether in its dull stick state or when polished. When polished, it gets more length but remains an arcing ball with a lot of control and rolly ball reaction. Seems to be one of those ultimate control balls.

charlest,

Respectfully, I would have to place the solid Creature more in the category of "ultimate control balls" than the Maniac. IMHO the solid Creature is the perfect benchmark (i.e. control) ball that someone could cart around. I found the Maniac, in various states of wax and/or sand, to be much more condition specific.

early rolling is an understatement for this ball... im still wanting to polish and i think the ball will be awesome
