Creature, the S40 one...either one would fit depends on which motion downlane you prefer...

If the maniac is on sale def. go for it.   Id go with a 5x4 Pin up and hit it with a 2000 or 4000 + a lil polish and it should fit nicely between the two

The Ball that would be perfect is The Creature without doubt.

A weak Maniac is still pretty strong.  Why not just take the ball that fits naturally in that spot (Creature) and layout your favorite pattern on it?

I agree with srlunitac, a creature or cr pearl would be the correct move.. the maniac is a very strong ball surprisingly.. see if your shop would trade it in for a creature if their distributor has one??

See if the AMF Code is on sale.  It'll also fit the bill.

Code will not fit inbetween the break pearl and the link, it is a fairly strong ball. It will be just as strong or stronger than the break pearl.

I say creature as well. Those balls were made to fit inbetween the Breaks and the Link

I still think a mild drilling plus polish on the maniac will get what hes looking for.

I don't have a Link, but when my Break Pearl is too much I usually end up stepping down to an Orbit Extreme or Night Hawk Pearl.

The Creature never did much for me.  I don't have a Maniac (yet), but the Link is rated at 30 and Break Pearl at 70.  The Maniac is rated at 50, so that is right in between the other two.

The only thing you have to consider is 2 are asymmetrical pearls and the Maniac is a symmetrical solid.  The Maniac also has more surface, so you can always adjust up if needed.

Second the Creature. Sure you could probably drill a Maniac weaker, but why when there is already a ball designed just for that purpose. Don't let the S40 rating fool you into thinking the ball is too weak. I can bring out the Creature on a fresh house shot and play with it all night. If the shot breaks down more, then you have your Link to go to. That would be a good 3 ball arsenal. Good luck!

If you don't want to order anything go with the Break pearl and drill it weaker than your current one.  You can also surface it up to 4000ab with some polish.

If you decide to order something try a Villain, Awakening, Creature, or Creature pearl.  These should easily fit in between those balls.

The Code can work but you will need a weaker layout and surface adjustments.  It's close to the Break pearl with an earlier roll.

What you are wanting will all depend on drilling and surface.  I have my break pearl drilled 5 1/2 x 45 degrees pin up with surface to 1000 grit and it hooks more than anything I've thrown.  Also have a Creature drilled 5/4 and it's more than what I expected.  My Maniac is drilled to be smooth and I took the surface to 2000 to cut down on the hook.  Both the Maniac and Creature drilled as I have with the surfaces I have are stronger than the Link but weaker than the Break Pearl the way mine is layed out.
