Bank Pearl vs Anarchy
« on: February 07, 2011, 06:27:41 AM »
I am interested in a strong pearl to open up the lane and I have gotten stuck between the Bank Pearl and the Anarchy. From what I have read, the Anarchy looks stronger overall, but that is just what I have read and I don't know how much truth there is to this. I have never thrown Storm and only have a long pin Bounty from 900. So I ask those on here that have thrown both or either to maybe tell me what you think of the two. Due to a touch too much speed I have a tendency to sit in between stroker and tweener for what it's worth. Anyway let me know what you all think. Thanks.

Yes, I am also interested in the 900global bowlers giving us their thoughts and expecially a comparison between the two

I have a Anarchy and a Bank Pearl both drilled 45 x 4 1/2 x 30, both OOB.  For me the Anarchy is about 5 boards stronger at the break point.  I am not saying that I dislike the Bank Pearl, for me it is a control piece which is very nice to have for a pearl as it clear the heads, but does not have the jump off of the dry like most pearls.  The anarchy for me clears heads, but once it hits the dry it makes a very pronounced move.  Hope this helps you out a little bit.

OOB these two balls will not be close in reaction but if you have a similiar surface the balls are very close.

It's funny you should bring up the oob, because I can only find that the BP as polished, but what is the sanding before the polish. The Anarchy is listed as 1500-polished. Who knows this info and how much difference can these finish differences make or is it the coverstocks?

This is a great link to the OOB surface for 900.

So if I am reading that chart right. The Bank Pearl is not sanded with a hard type of friction producer past 320grit, it gets to 1500 via a wet sanding compound. That is interesting. I don't know how much I like the amount of steps they put into their process, that looks like a lot for an individual to go through to get back to a oob finish. I for one have a spinner I made, but I don't have the wet sanding compounds they are using. Might have to look into a few more bottles of crap...

Anyway so how does this make the finish of the Bank Pearl that much different than the Anarchy? I am starting to think that the core and coverstock in the Anarchy is stronger than the Bank Pearl. But at the same time I am starting to lean towards the Bank Pearl, I have been watching it go down the lane every week and I really like the look it produces and the carry it gives. I don't know of anyone in the house I bowl at that has the Anarchy, so I haven't got to see it in person. Maybe I'll watch some videos on Youtube. Just kindof stuck right now.

IMHO, I have thrown the Anarchy and it seemed very over/under to me, I am also looking at the Bank Pearl and 718A right now. I believe the Bank Pearl would be a bit stronger than the 718A, but Im still trying to confirm that.

I have both the 718A and the Bank Pearl and they are drilled the same.  For me, the Bank is probably 3-5 boards weeker and picks up earlier on the lane and is smoother off the spot.

I wasnt expecting the Bank pearl to be weaker than the 718A...hmmm..Interesting, maybe the 718A is the way to go. I have a 715T and 505T that I love. Maybe the 718A is the strong pearl im looking for....I just didnt like the 607A and that makes me leary of the Track "A" balls

The 718A hadn't really made it on to my short list, yet. It is a thought, but so is the Lane #1 Boom R ang. But I really don't want something that goes down the lane and suddenly jumps hard (skip/flip). The BP is really starting to stand out as a very usable piece with more than one use. This coverstock might be what the SRC was supposed to be put in, but I'll have to wait until I throw one to finalize that comment... Just gonna have to go for it on one of these. Probably the Bank Pearl, I would really like to see the Anarchy, that might sway me. There just isn't a lot of support around here for Storm.

Try checking out www.bowlingball.com. they may have videos of both balls to show the difference in their hands.

Just a reminder, the 718A is a new core and new cover compared to the other "A" series balls

I bought Bank Pearl tonite, drilled 60x5x45.....What a great ball is my initial reaction! Strong, handled fresh oil well and was very strong but not stupid off the spot.

I will have to take a look at the videos, I would really like to see someone that doesn't crank the crap out of it throw them. That is one thing I hate about most video reviews and companies posting videos. It almost always features some bowler that could make a plastic ball cover 40 boards on Route 66... just kidding. I would like to see a myriad of styles in them. Sorry got on a tangent there.

Anyway the whole not jumping off the spot is exactly what I am looking for. So far Bank Pearl is looking like it, but I'll watch some videos...

Friday night I bowl on wood with Guardian overlays, the backends are always flying, I will let you know how it hoolds up and if its useable.....But as i said, yesterday my first impression was great, It was freshly oiled for league I was comparing to my 505T which was earlier and smooth, the BP was just 4-5 feet longer and still very smooth also 3-4 boards stronger over all, closer to my 715T in total strength, but much smoother
