Barnes signs with Global
« on: December 22, 2014, 11:12:37 PM »
So how is no-one talking about Barnes signing with 900G? I'm hearing he can throw Storm/Roto during the week and has to throw 900 on the show. Huge news

This is gonna lead to 900G being somwhat of Storm's "3rd brand". I would assume they move some other staffers over to 900 to strengthen the brand, maybe some other people based in Texas. But that's just a theory of mine, unlike Barnes signing which I've heard from many people.

Similar to what Radical is to Brunswick. Good stuff. Would be awesome to see them back on tour.

Considering 900 Global isn't PBA approved, I can't see that happening, but let's say it's true.

Maybe he's tired of dressing up like a clown for bowling.

This, if true, seems to imply that not only is Storm/900G paying for Barnes' contract, but they're also going to pay the PBA fees for entering 900G and AMF products into the PBA. That's a pretty big investment into Barnes.

Not if Global falls under the Storm umbrella...then it may not be as stiff

But you are talking a lot more units needed to be sold to balance this out

If the whole 900 Global issue of falling under the Storm umbrella is true, don't worry about them moving units. All of a sudden, they will become as popular as popular can be! Don't you know everyone thinks that Storm stuff is the best???

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If Nick is still designing stuff for 900G, I'm in. If not, I may have to look elsewhere.

Kudos to the opener for actually sharing instead of acting like a middle school girl saying "I know something, but I cant tell".

Can Chris Barnes sell bowling balls? While being an excellent player and tactician, his heavy end over end roll isnt "sexy" to the average guy who wants to see someone on tv spanking the ball with a 500+ revrate.

True on the end over end roll, and although I have no inside knowledge of the deal, if there is a deal, I would have to assume that his wife would leave Columbia as well. Lynda is very good and with the Women getting some events now, that has to add some to the deal as well, right?

*Rumor*

An EBI staff member mentioned to me that Ryan Shafer and Norm Duke could be signing with EBI.

If that's true, that would make things interesting.  Duke has never thrown Ebonite to my knowledge.  Shafer was with Ebonite before joining Storm about 10 years ago.

My guess is Storm is looking to move money around to make way for Barnes. Norm has been a little fed up since they're making him bowl the senior events. Even though he whacks them at every single one he bowls. I would guess both Norm and Shafer were told they'd be getting less and decided to call around. Probably talking to everyone.

Would love to see Norm Duke throwing either Brunswick or Hammer!

I think Duke and Brunswick would be a good match right now. Give him a few of the Melee Cross and Jab and a couple of Masterminds + a LT48 and watch him win some more

What I wonder is...why is norm not making shows anymore? Or Pete? Are they getting beat by the young guns and revs? Or is it equipment matchups?

It could be both.  When WRWJ ran into this issue, he was injured, 900 Global dropped him shortly before they de-registered from the tour, and had to get used to a new grip and equipment from Track.  Then on top of that, you had the guys like Rash, Belmo, and the younger people who can throw 500+ revs and have high ball speed that totally kills the patterns for the guys who like to throw less revs and speed.

Norm Duke is versatile but even he mentioned on a show a while back that he can't circle the lane as much as he used to, so his versatility has gone down.  Weber on the other hand has been making some shows and has been winning more than Duke or WRWJ over the past few years.  For Weber, he still has versatility and can do things to the ball that many can't.  But, in his most recent shows, IMO Weber hasn't matched up as well with some of what he's been throwing.
