Black Ops
« on: October 30, 2015, 08:52:19 PM »
Got to drill and roll a Black Ops for the first time today. It's not often I come immediately to ballreviews to talk about a ball, but I had to with this one.

Layout is 50 x 5 1/4 x 40.
Tilt: 10
Rotation: 70
Revs: 375-400
Speed- 16-16.5 on screen (down lane)
Pap: 4 1/2 right, 3/4 up.

On my house's heavyish volume THS, this ball is something else. There wasn't much for midlane movement, but I could see the ball reading the midlanes well. Almost like it was setting itself up for a big turn at the breakpoint. I wouldn't quite say it was skid-snappy, but it gave me a really hard arcing backend motion. Plenty of recovery when I got it outside too far or too quickly. Hit and carry was impressive.

At the point, the only criticism I could possibly come up with, is referring to it as a "heavy oil" ball. It could be I think, with the right surface and layout, but out of the box I would say it's closer to medium-medium/heavy. That's looking for something I don't like about it though. To be honest, it's an excellent ball in my mind, and I'm really excited about throwing it more.

As a bonus, it's probably the best looking all black bowling ball I've ever seen :)

Got mine this past week. Too much oil during league to try at oob. Going to practice tomorrow and see how it does. Have a Big Dream to test this week as well. Hope to post  a video of the two in another week or so after getting in some practice.

Oob, its not for heavy oil. S70 takes surface changes well.

Wasn't heavy oil but enough that it would be too over under at bix. I may change surface later but I'd rather keep it shiny for now incase I do cone across a condition where that surface is needed. Going to use it as a ball down from the Dream Big which has a little more surface at box finish. Great looking ball I'm excited about.

If you want it shiny, take it down and apply your own polish. I can't tell you how much I hate 1500 polished. Trust me on this one.

Lol i believe you.

I don't use polish. I may eventually knock the shine off. Right now it's super shiny and i will leave it be till I get some games in.

Just liked the looks of a video with the Dream Big and the looks of the Black Ops. The Black Ops core is a great core and wanted something with it to try. Almost bought a purple/pinkish Eagle a few years back and wish I had.

With the 3 new releases I got in from Brunswick with the Nirvana, Thug Life, and Supreme the Supreme was the only one I was tempted to try but I will probably pass on. I live in central Arkasas and hadn't seen a 900G/AMF ball on a shelf here in probably 10 years. Hadn't seen anyone throw any of their newer stuff in years either.

Figured these were two good balls to try out. Also considering the 2 new Roto releases as well. Hadn't thrown anything out of San Antonio since Columbia/Track left. Great equipment just not anything I really wanted to try enough to DV8 from what I was using.

If I like a ball I will tell you,  if I don't… .same thing. Theres plenty I haven't liked lol or thought were okay.

Most important thing in sales or most things is not talking down another product but explaining why they should try yours instead.

Not to stray off the OP but I think the ball that is going to shock everyone is the All In. I love strong sanded pearls and this is rated stronger than the Einstein, Swerve, Menace, Haywire ect.... by BJI. I know it's hard to believe but after watching some vids on it I'm starting to believe it.
