Bounty Hunter - surface changes
« on: July 15, 2009, 12:56:29 AM »
I am thinking of getting a Bounty Hunter. I loved Dynothane equipment and want to try a 900 Global piece. I want this to be my heavy oil ball. I understand that it comes OOB at 4000 Abralon. Has anyone tried it a 2000 Abralon or 1000 Abralon? And if so what were the results? Thanks in advance for your help.

I have not done so myself. I'm using it on a 41 ft pattern on new HPLs with a med-heavy volume and corners like a Ferrari, very angular with the perfect amount of length, I could not imagine taking the cover down to make more friction earlier, for me it would be left of the 1-3 at 50 feet. It is a lot of ball just as it is, if your ball speed over rides your rev rate you might have to do so.

Steve,
I throw about 18-19 MPH with a Rev rate of about 390 RPM (that was not from CATS but done by video at a lesson with Mike Jasnau last year). So at times I think the cover change could be benificial.

But that being said, what you mentioned is also what I wanted to hear, do I even need to do it, if everyone says they haven't found enough oil to do so, then I will take that into consideration.

I'm debating between the BH and the Mega-Friction right now, so I also wanted to see if someone has tried the BH at lower surfaces and how it compares to the MF. This all came about from Nationals this year....threw my Cell at 2000 Abralon for team event and watched it go dead straight. So was thinking of trying something new for heavier, longer patterns.

you have an apple and a pear, comparing the MF and BH both at box a huge difference in ball motion, and shape. The MF is much earlier, designed for true heavy or longer oil, a sweeping hook throughout the lane. The BH has more natural length and more back end movement, more angular and continuation. Two totally different looks going down lane. For my personal use the BH is a more versatile ball for what I see from night to night.

Jorge,

Nationals was fun wasn't it.  I somewhat had the same problem but with my Mega.  In the team event I used the mega and was one of the only ones on my pair getting any hook although it wasn't as much as I wanted.  I hadn't done anything with the cover other than cleanings so it was somewhat my fault.  The following morning I hit it pretty good with 500 Abralon and was happy.  Didn't score as good as I would have liked but was able to keep the speed up closer to where I was comfortable.
