Train vs Freight Train
« on: July 06, 2012, 09:12:29 AM »
Has anyone thrown both and compared yet? Drilled my first Train 2 weeks ago, got another NIB from Gunny (Thanks, bro!) coming soon, and have ordered my Freight Train.

I have both the Train and the Freight Train. From what i have seen on the shots I have threw them on both sport and THS. The freight train went a little longer and had a bigger move on the backend than my train. Threw both Wednesday night on the Kagel Autobahn. Loved both, but for me the freight Train gave me that added sense of relief when i missed a board left or right and still hit pocket great. My Train; I had to be more percise but it hit harder on the autobahn when it entered the pocket. On the regular pattern; only thing differnt is the freight went further down the alley for a sharper snap down lane. I hope this helps.

It is never the balls fault but the person throwing it.

Well, I am bowling on the Kegel patterns now. I know on the THS, there will be minimal difference. My first Train I drilled to be kind of rolly, and wondering if I should really drill the second one to flip hard. I'm not used to drilling high end balls very strong, so it's just a thought.

I noticed no one has commented on this thread in a long time so I think I'll start it up again. I currently own and really enjoy the Freight Train. I have plans to order another one but am on the fence on getting the Train over the new Mamba Hybrid. I currently lack a hybrid in my bag. I'm guessing there would be too much overlap between the two or does it come down to layout, surface prep and my release? Thanks!

FYI The Train is a hybrid also.
Mamba has an asymmetric core; Train has a symmetric core.

I have a Train, but not a Freight. At the stock 1500 grit, the Train was way too strong and too early for me. I took the cover to 4000 grit and it is much more usable with decent length and excellent hitting power.

Thanks charlest! I think I'll go with the Train since I prefer the more controllable nature of a symmetrical and if it's too early for my slower ball speed and lower rev rate I'll try 4000 or a light polish. Speaking of Trains I've heard 900 Global plans on releasing another addition to the Train line in January. I suspect it'll be a pearl since the Freight is a solid, and the Train is a hybrid.

Well after last night I can post for real on this topic I had my freight train drilled pin very high to go long hopeing to get some separation between it and one of my trains that I use the most but even then its very early so after trying 4000 and it still not being what I was looking for I did what i do when balls just don't work for me I threw it in the luster king for 10 mins lol now the ball is prob one of the best balls I have ever thrown shot 788 last night I could throw it as far right as I wanted and just know it was going to come back.
