Global balls cracking
« on: October 31, 2015, 01:52:45 PM »
Hello all, I am considering trying a black ops.  I had the original black eagle and loved it, heck even shot 800 with it.  However, the ball cracked with 12 games on it and they replaced it and the new one cracked as well.  Is their newer stuff and better as far as this goes ?

I wish I could help you, but I honestly haven't had a single first drill ball from them crack on me. I've been throwing them since the Break, and no issues like other people have had. Is it possible that the glue your PSO is using is an issue?

I'm with Doom on this one, I have or have had numerous 900 and AMF balls with no issues. I also do not use slugs or inserts so not sure if that's helps out the issue or not.

Any ball from any company can crack at anytime. Had a recent run of a few from Brunswick Crack within a month of drilling with little or no games. Prior to that I had no issues.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I have had about 15 Amf/GLobal and none of them have cracked. I had a Seismic crack putting a thumb slug in but thats more how my pro shop guys does thumb slugs. Kid is right all companies crack except maybe Visionary and Lane Masters seems like they have less cracking  from my experience only..

TBH I seem to notice that the cracking seems to happen to the same people... And it doesn't happen to the same people.  It's a process thing. Dull bits or too much super glue, gotta be something.

I stopped throwing their equipment last season due to the cracking issues I have had.  TJ was nice enough to replace a ball with one of the newest ones.  Even though the ball was made out of Utah, I never drilled it up and won't drill anything that has a 900 Global name on it (my choice, my right, don't judge unless you've spent over $1k in equipment and replacements and replacements cracking and losing money and you were ok with it).  My equipment was in a controlled environment.  Used, maintained, and also drilled by the same person who's been in the pro shop business over 25 years.  When I started throwing their equipment when they came out, I had cracking starting from day 1.  My ball driller has had cracking issues with only my stuff (I'm the only one who he drills for that used 900 Global) no other manufacturer's equipment has ever cracked on him.  Good luck if you decide to drill another 900 Global ball.  They could be better now, but I won't take that chance, even though it drives me crazy because I really do want to support them but when you lose a lot of money, I can't justify it.

As I previously posted in August and September, I lost three Black Eagles, BE Pearl, and a War Eagle to full cracking then followed by a Breakdown cracking which was purchased 2/2015.  I stated I was done with 900 Global equipment.  The distributor replaced my Breakdown under warranty with a Black Ops and what a ball. It is even better than the Eagles.
If the Black Ops holds up without cracking, I will continue to buy 900 Global as they are producing some awesome balls.
BTW I have a AMF Solar Flare (2013) and it has not cracked to date.  It also is a great ball. Wish I could find a 15# NIB or a single drill to buy.

To add an older Global ball, my Break Pearl just cracked along with a Hammer Taboo.  All the way around.  I've had balls from most companies crack on me, but I thinks it's the hot environment that I live in. I don't have space in my house so they stay in the enclosed but vented garage.
