Jewel and Wisdom reviews
« on: September 01, 2011, 06:57:38 AM »
Well I recently punched out 4 new Global balls.

The Nuts, Bank Roll, Jewel and Wisdom.

Haven't tossed either the Nuts or Bank Roll yet.

Now the Jewel and Wisdom have a few games on a piece nothing to serious.

Initial thoughts are that the Jewel is a little stronger than I anticipated it will be replacing a Longshot in my bag with the same layout.

The Wisdom is replacing a Favorite with a similar layout.

Will probably have to tweek the ball surface to get a little bit more ball motion out of the Wisdom.

Each ball has the hook shape I was anticipating.

Once I get some games on the Nuts and Bank Roll I will post my thoughts on each.

A few questions.  Would you say the Wisdom is stronger than the Longshot as well?  Also curious as to why you'd replace a solid ball like the Favorite with what seems to be a fairly clean pearl.

I'm asking because I had planned on purchasing a Long Shot to compliment my Favorite but now that they're discontinued I'm curious about where the Wisdom fits in.

Thanks!

Well first of all I am on Global's advisory staff.

So I try and keep my arsenal up to date with what they have in the current lineup.

Last year I started out the season with both a Longshot and a Favorite with exactly the same layout.

Each had a 3 inch pin with very similar top weight.

The Longshot was probably 2 or 3 boards stronger overall than the Favorite but had a tendency to be a little squirty on carrydown.

So I knocked the shine off of the Longshot with a 4000 abralon pad.

Took care of the squirtiness.

As to why I punched a Wisdom to replace a Favorite.

I like 6 inch pin layout's.

For whatever reason they roll vary well for me.

With this in mind I did my Wisdom 6 inch pin.

The Favorite also is a 6 inch pin with a Bean's finish on it.

This will be for very late blocks in tournaments.

I hope this helps.

You can pm me if you need more info.

I would imagine that a Jewel would be a replacement for the Longshot but Nickonaut or Eric T. might answer this question better.
