Looking for a 900 Global ball to try for a different look...
« on: January 14, 2011, 06:29:29 PM »
This is what I use at the moment, the lanes I bowl on normally are Medium, to Medium light House Shots for the most part.  I have started bowling in tournaments as of late, and will be headed to Reno in June. My ball speed is 14.5 to 15.5.  Might be a little more now, as I have started dropping to a 14lb ball, haven't checked it since I made the change.  Plenty of revs,

Midnight Vibe, very high pin  - Can hook this across the lane.
715C - 15lb - Pin Down - can hit marshmellowy at times..  but consistent arc
607A - I just ordered this, haven't tried it, hoping it would replace the 715C, as a stronger piece than the Vibe
C-System 3.5 - Dont use anymore, couldn't kick out the 10's.
Python - 10 games on it, who wants one?

I know I am going to need a ball that can deal with more oil coming up, I've seen the Bank and the Bank Pearl..  I've been told it would be good to have a solid in the bag, but with my revs and low speed, I'm not sure if I get a solid if it would burn up to early.. so the question is can the Pearl be the oil ball if needed.. It looks as if these two balls are pin crushers...  just looking for opinions..

I have had sevveral 900/amf pieces and can say they are the most underrated pieces out.

If you are wanting a ball for heavier walled tournament patterns I would recommend the amf double clutch solid, it is the strongest ball I have ever thrown! Most solids I have thrown have just arced off dry, this ball turns the corner very hard. This ball is stronger than my bounty hunter solid ever was!

As far as league ths and mediums I love my favorite and my double clutch pearl.  The favorite is a very smooth rolling piece and is forgiving.  The pearl allows a little more angle when carry down is a issue.

In the bag:

900 global bounty hunter

900 global favorite

Roto grip mars

AMF radar (oldie but goodie)

AMF double clutch

AMF double clutch pearl

First choice for me and any recommendations is the Break Out. Polish it up for medium or hit it with a little surface for wetter. Ball has a great read and nice arc with great carry. Have mine pin down at 4 1/2" and MP on VAL. My ball speed is around 16 to 17mph and decent rev rate. Rolling 15 lb for the past year. I have managed front 11 for 299 in travel league and front 10 for 289 in my home house in the past 4 weeks. First time I have put together these types of scores since back in 2006 or 7. I am convinced rolling 900 products has a lot to do with my game coming back around and the confidence that goes with it.

Being a slow speed player (12-13) as long as there is enough volume solids are fine. I have a Bank and a Seismic Aftermath and I'm able to use these on a variety of conditions. I;m waiting for and looking forward to the arrival of my Raw Profit as my Profit has been pure money after they break down some. As Tex said above it's hard to go wrong with a Break Out as it's very versatile and responds well to surface changes.I have not thrown either of the Double Clutches yet but based on my experience with the Clutch series it's hard to go wrong with them either
