My first use of 900 global....lunatic
« on: February 13, 2014, 11:04:22 AM »
I just purchases a used Lunatic for my med dry lanes.  I'm looking for something to play up the 10 board after my hy-road is too much.  I hoping for it to move on dry, but not overreact.

there are times when you just have to move and not play up 10 board. the lunatic isnt super weak, so you would need a weaker layout producing a smoother reaction for you but it could still be too strong for what you are asking

Have you attempted moving left and opening the lane up or do you play one line and are unwilling to move?

If you don't learn to move in past 2nd arrow, you're gonna have a bad time.

I agree.  I'm so used to playing up the 10.  I will practice moving in, but to be honest it's difficult, at least for me.

Cav,

Have you asked around for some coaching? It sounds like you may be 1 or 2 lessons away from taking your game to another level. Good coaching is always a good idea.

The tip I give one of my team mates who has issues moving is to keep your shoulders square.  You will walk straight and not dump it back out to 10.  I'm no coach, but remembering that always helps me when I'm need mental help while playing inside.

This.

Cav, if you can learn to move in (even a little) and open it up some (w/a good coach) it will open up worlds of opportunity for you.

As far as the question, since moving isn't apparently an option (which is horrible) you may want something that will really really lay off on the back end.  If it's ("up 10") toasting up on you and your Hyroad maybe something really low flaring or even a plastic with a core?  Those are just guesses from me really....a quality pro-shop would be able to help you more than most here in all honesty.

All I know is, sometimes you can get deep....The shot is either squirrelly from the start or ends up that way.   In both of my leagues, I either am forced to migrate deeper...or move right with speed and pipe it up the track.

On wood lanes...I go deep as I wanna be with a byte, or I can pipe it with a wrecker.

Early,

But so far the book hooks more than I thought.  On fresh, it kicks left when hitting dry....on burnt lanes however the reaction was smoother and more predictable.  Shatters pins when thrown right....the balls name is right....it looks like a lunatic when thrown

Lunatic was one of the underrated midpriced balls from 900 Global. Glad it works for you!

I had the same moving deep issue as many do at first. Susie Minshew had me playing 3rd and 4th arrow in one lesson. For me it was a simple matter of the visual and misconception on lining up to roll the shot. First thing for me was it is square to the line you want to play, not the foul line. Ofter misunderstood. The second was her technique of drawing straight lines from the shoulder, through the target to one of the pins. For example, might be standing on 30 so I might draw a mental picture of ball crossing the 3rd arrow and if it were to never hook hitting the face of the 10 pin or if backends aren't that strong might be the 6 pin. Walk straight, roll the ball along that target line and it will hook when it  gets to the break point. Adjust so that bring the ball flush in the pocket. All about that mental image. In one hour she had me playing where I had never been before or not with any accuracy. Since that day I live to play inside.
