Nuts Pearl
« on: January 07, 2012, 12:15:34 PM »
Thanks again to Ballreviews and Global 900 for having the monthly contest.  Got the ball drilled today, but forgot to take my entire accessory bag, so I didn't have my Magic Carpet, tape, or anything else.  I plan on hitting my sport shot practice tomorrow (Seoul, 39') and I'll make some comments then.

Took me a long time to get a read on the ball.   Way too firm on my release caused a lot of pulls/tugs.  Plus the pattern played a little wet/dry.  Anyway, once I finally threw the ball well, it gives me a look I don't currently have.  It's pretty darn strong in the mid lane.  At first it was really weak on the back, but I don't know if the ball needed to be thrown a few games to "wake up" or I was just throwing it that bad.  Finally my last game (Seoul pattern) I was able to play 16 at the arrows out to about 8.  My Wicked Siege is much cleaner through the front part of the lane and has a big "slurve" on the back.  The Nuts Pearl reads the mid lane stronger, so it's harder to project out to the right, but it makes a sharper move on the back than the Wicked Siege.  Right now it looks like a good fit between the Wicked Siege and my Black Widow Bite

I drilled mine pin down just for a change. On the first tryout the ball wasn't hooking enough on the fresh oil so I tried a surface change of 500 with polish. Then in league I tried it after the lanes had begun to open up and the ball hooked to early. I took it back to 1000 and then 4000 with the NEAT pads and it rolls much better. Drilling it pin down makes it more rolly than skid snap but the carry seems good and the motion is very predictable.

I'm loving mine.  Gets down the lane nice and clean and makes a nice controlled move off the spot.  It's not as flippy as some pearls, but I kind of like the control, it keeps me out of trouble if I get it out to the dry too quickly.  640 set last week, and a 694 this week.

Mine is drilled  45°x3.5x35° with an extra hole below my pap

Used it during league (Seoul, 39') tonight.  The outsides were touchy, so moved in and played 15 at the arrows out to 8.  Had lots of tug room all night and eventually opened up the lanes a little.  I shot 642, so I can't complain.  I really have to be careful to not come around the ball early (a habit of mine due to arthritis) because the ball won't read the lane worth a flip if I did.  But when thrown well, it's a very heavy rolling ball.  I'm liking it so far.

I used the ball Tuesday on Paris (47') with OK success.  Didn't move deep enough fast enough.  A guy with a lot more hand than me and a stronger ball/faster ball speed started inside of me.  My first moves were into the spot he already dried out.  But, after moving pretty deep (for me) I had a pretty good look.  Shot 579 and chopped the 3-6-10 three times.

Subbed on a house shot tonight.  Threw it pretty bad the whole first game (kept missing right at the arrows).  But once I got dialed in I had a lot of fun.  A really good ball for standing left and throwing right.  When I threw it good, I could bring the ball back from just about anywhere, and I have pretty average revs.  Not exactly skid/flip (pin down and not polished), but the ball read the mid lane pretty good and made a nice decisive move at the break point.

If you have above average revs and like to swing the ball on a THS, you need a ball like this.  It's done pretty decent on sport shots, but should do really good when you can let it loose.
