S-75 - How strong is it really?
« on: April 15, 2009, 12:06:41 AM »
I just aquired a 2nd NIB Break s75 for dirt cheap. It has a short pin, So I am going to do a pin down layout for the ball to be my oiler hopefully. I also have a Solaris Requiem coming.

I am assuming the Requiem will be a little stronger overall, but I am wanting to drill that the same as my original Solaris, which is pin sitting ontop of ring.

I am a 350 rev bowler, 15-17 MPH on speed. I was thinking a 5 x 4 1/4 pin under bridge. I thought about going 4 1/2 x 4 1/4. but I am afraid of really high a differential it has, seems it would flare the whole ball for me at the pin distance.

What kind of results are you guys getting out of yours, with the layouts, (if you could state please) that you have on yours.

This ball has intrigued me for a while, glad I came across one. That soaker cover on an oil ball sounds very nice.

Compared to the pearl with same exact drill, for me its a few feet earlier and at least 6 boards difference.

at the moment i use my s75 as my oiler because i do not see much oil to use a bounty or mega friction, surface is at 1000 abralon. the layout i have on it is 5 x 4 1/4 pin down. to me it is a strong ball and enough for today's "heavy oil" for my rev rate (specs in profile). due to the surface and layout i have on mine, it rolls up fairly early but still has enough pop in the back. you will love the s75

Please note, if this ball doesn't react the way you want it to originally after drilling, this ball needs oil to soak into the ball.  I'm sure you were aware of that but I wanted to make sure its posted.

not a ball on the market that hooks more than the s75 to me...sure my bounty is a great oiler with tremendous roll...but when i need a ball to change directions quickly down lane because of all the oil...the s75 dominates

Ya i Know about the soaker needing some game. I have an Element NE10 that about the first 10 games it was like it had slicks on. now it is a pretty strong very consistent piece

Agreed. May not be the ealiest ball in oil but I have never thrown a ball that covers more boards than s75.

Mine is drilled pin down 4.5 x 4 (I think - I'm at work, my ball is at home). Box surface.

I do have a bit of tilt in my release so for me the S75 has good length and great backend when it hits dry.

The way it drives though the pins is one of the best (as good as my Absolute Inferno and Twisted Fury), I absolutely love my S-75.

I wonder why 900 Global don’t use soaker more? (My S75 is my only 900 Global so maybe their other coverstocks are just as good)

LaneHammer20 - you have more revs than me, and I assume you don't have as much tilt, so 5 x 4 1/4 sounds better than 4 1/2 (disclaimer, I'm not a driller, just a keen bowler & ball junkie) - you can always adjust the surface to make it a 'true' oiler if the box surface is too fine.

i have used both side by side, and i found to much overlap, and sold my s-75

different styles i suppose, but you said " think " it will be stronger

and all i can comment is my side by side hands on use of both

i carry alot of speed and a fair amount of revs
17-18
350-400

your style may be different

but let us know what you doscover

I know, that's why I asked why don't 900 Global use it more as the S75 is so good.

Good question, I'm not sure really ...I'm surprised they haven't used it more either ..I mean, ...why not, right?!
