s75 Cover
« on: November 15, 2010, 12:04:59 AM »
900 Global needs to bring back the s75 cover on something. That cover for me was stronger than any other cover in the 900 Global line-up. At 2000 no polish it was earlier than even my Bounty Hunter. At OOB surface it retained energy and just flat out hooked. And it lasted for a very long time. My s75 has over 200 games and still hooks a lot. Not as much as when it was brand new but still hooks a lot. I just think they should throw this cover on one of the newer cores and see how it does!!

Still wishing!!! Any input Eric or Nick?? Just wondering if it is something that might make a comeback or if that same cover has been used on another core. I noticed the Mega Recovery has an F75 rating....Is this the same cover by any chance?

I was talking to Mo Pinel about "super covers" and he said he has done a lot of research in the way of coverstock strength and that the s75 cover is one of the few "super covers"available and that it is indeed the strongest cover in the 900G lineup. Whether anyone chooses to believe his research is up to them but just surprised that several other covers in their lineup have been given higher ratings. But for me those I have thrown all had less "hook".

Now that Phil has left 900Global, are they even authorized to make a soaker coverstock?
Do they know the secret or does Phil have to authorize them to do this? and if he has to do that, will he?

Maybe one of your guys with an "in" at 900G should ask them in private about this??

I'm sure they know what it is, hasn't been used domestically since the S-75, but has been used in International releases according to Nick S

I agree the Break S75 is one of the best 900 Global ball I have ever bowled with. That is why I still have a new one saved for a rainy day

Interesting.  What numbers?  The R.G., diff, and mid diff, or actual coverstock ratings?

Tekneek has the Integral Break Pearl listed on ebay, and it's listed as having the S70 cover.

Even so, as far as I know, the rating system is only a guideline to rate the aggressiveness, so S70 (on the Integral Break, or even the Profit) doesn't even mean it is the same cover as the original Break, or Break Pearl.

S75 doesn't tell us anything other than it should be more aggressive than the S70 or even the S73 of the Bank.  And even then, it really doesn't mean much because as 900Global (and AMF) like to point out - "
Core dynamics must be taken into account with shell strength when selecting equipment."

None of us would have known that the Break S75 was a "soaker" unless they came out and told us.  The only clue is from the description "The Break S75 shell is more aggressive, featuring a new absorbent  coverstock technology designed to move oil rapidly away from the  surface, enhancing an already high friction coverstock."

They can't use "soaker" because they don't own the rights to that name......which really surprises me that they didn't attempt to create a new trademark/copyright name for the cover and/or technology.

As stated before, "soaker" is considered a "super cover" with the benefit that it seems to get stronger with use - the opposite of most oil absorbing covers.

Soaker is an additive not a cover, never patented, trademarked, unless it has been done recently, I assume it can not be done since it is possibly a chemical compound, ISO, or another unnamed "ingredient". My info came from the D/T era, was told it was an additive and its cost was not condusive to be used in anything but high end equipment meaning expensive ingredient !!! Does Ebo own the rights to the "Soaker" as a marketing feature, can't answer that one, I suppose they might, do they own the ingredient, no a chemical manufacturer made it so they own it possibly BASF, Bayer, Dupont can't answer that one either.
