s75 or clutch
« on: October 13, 2009, 01:40:56 PM »
alright, girl on my team needs a new ball for medium and longer patterns. she is typical girl bowler, 15mph and almost gets on top of the ball, she prob has like 175 to 200 revs. so i was thinking either the s75 or the clutch. she needs a ball to start in the midlane and then read the backend and go left. right now her cell just reads the midlane and doesnt do much on the back...which do u guys think would be a good fit

I have the S75 with a high pin above the fingers, gives me more length and back end compared to a Cell, im not sure about the Clutch (other than what i read), it looks to be earlier and smoother than the S75 but again, haven't drilled one, the S75 with a pin above the fingers would work but a better choice would be something like the Cell Pearl, Rogue Cell or Break Point IMO.

Break Point has a ton of pop on the backend and I think would be perfect for what you are describing. The S75 is a lot smoother overall than the BP.

Ryan,

I have a Break Point with a couple games on it I can plug for you - if you are interested.

Let me know,

I have both the S-75 and the Clutch and if the young lady wants a ball to read the midlane, then the Clutch is the one to go to.  The S-75 is strong too, but for me, it goes longer than the Clutch.

Are you referring to medium volume or length?  If volume you could get a Break Point, but I think she'd get more use out of the Clutch, which I believe is stronger in every way.  If you were referring to length, either would do fine.

I believe, instead of the S75, you should be considering the Bounty Hunter.  That is unless you're on less than medium.

I have not thrown my Clutch yet . For me the S-75 and Break Point cover the same number of boards but with different reaction shapes. S-775 is smoother where the Break Point is much more angular

Ryan,
This is your old buddy from Dekalb (JJ).

The Clutch is an awsome ball and it is one of the most readable balls I have ever thrown, It is an arching ball that finishes hard. For the money it is hard to beat. I have the Bounty Hunter and it has very little if anything on the Clutch.

thanks for the comments guys, we went with the s75. i just think for a girl that the break point is too hard to make react on the backend. Ive seen a lot of girls throw it and it just kind of rolls over due to the lack of making the ball tilt. This girl doesnt have a lot of tilt so something that can get into a roll in the mids and then pop on the backend is what she needs. she didnt like the colors of the clutch so the s75 it was. hopefully it will work out.

JJ, im def getting a clutch, i dont know why but i am. Im thinking im gonna put the pin left of my middle finger and polish it. so i have a piece that is smooth and rolly down lane. god knows i dont need any more hooking stuff...
