shot big with lunatic
« on: September 15, 2009, 02:45:52 PM »
Bowled 827 with the lunatic, this is my first global900 ball and boy do I love it. I drilled it pin next to the ring finger stacked.

The ball went down lane and had a nice controllable arc. This is a great ball for a midlane line. I left it out of the box but since I bowl some tournament I'll probably knock the surface to 1000 or 500 to get it to read early. It is and awsome ball and I would go get one today for the price it is.

thanks for reading

Great bowling!

I would recommend against taking the surface down too much, though.  The Lunatic reads the lane pretty well in OOB condition, and it might actually be a tad too strong with a dull finish.  It might be more prudent to pick up a Break Point if you need something that will read earlier during tournaments.  The Lunatic should stay as a ball that you can play the lane as it transitions from a fresh heavy-medium shot (where you'll use the Break Point) all the way down to a medium-dry, as long as you're able to play deep.

I say Break Point for the fresh, then move to the Lunatic when breakdown occurs.

Very nice shooting, I would agree not to take the surface down. I got alot of over under with mine. Get another one with a different drilling on, I would think you would have more luck that way.

I'll expand on my reasoning, I suppose.

I've got my Lunatic with a 2" pin, drilled pin in the middle finger w/ cg under the ring finger.  I play a pretty high rev game, with moderate speed (17.5 mph on a fresh shot, slower on heavy, faster on dry).  My Lunatic reads pretty early in the midlane, and then makes its move pretty quickly, but not in a skid/snap way.  There is a smooth arc, but the first read is definitely early enough that I wouldn't want to take the surface down.  I've got my S75 and Bounty Hunter if I need something to read really early, but the Break Point would be my recommendation if you don't have anything in the Break line to this point.
