Train discontinued?
« on: December 03, 2012, 09:16:09 PM »
I happen to be looking through some bowling websites and noticed buddies and bowlers paradise don't stock the Train anymore, and bowling.com has it on closeout. It seems bowlingball.com is the only site still selling them without putting a closeout tag on it. My guess is the Train is in the process or has been discontinued. Say it ain't so! I guess I should purchase a case of Trains and Freight Trains for future safe keeping.

Since the next high end release is scheduled for release in January, that would make sense that it is discontinued.  I am guessing the new release will be in the Train line.  I am still waiting for the Midnight Train.  8)

IMO, it makes total sense. I don't think that the Train was the success that 900 thought it might be, and they totally made up for it with the Freight Train, which I am guessing is going to stay in the line until at least June.

Don't get me wrong. I love my Train, and have a second one waiting to get holes put in it. I haven't snagged a Freight Train yet, but the motion of the Freight Train is more sought after by most bowlers.

I agree with doom but it just seems like people want a ball that hooks all 40 boards on a but because the train doesn't hook the entire lane people didn't like it I have 3 and it's probably 1 of the most versatile balls I've ever thrown

I loved mine for about 30 games. Had 2 of them same thing after that it was never the same. Same thing with the Bank Roll, i think me and that cover aren't very good for each other or something....

Did you try rejuvinating it? I haven't had an issue with any of them yet...

Yeah I've rejuvenated them taken then all the way down to 220 and back and nothing....don't know why. I've never had any issue with any other 900 cover and I've had 20+ different pieces. All other balls a simple rejuvenation and they were back like OOB....

Almost 200 games on my train.  Original oob surface.  Just cleaned after each set with alcohol and still knocking out those 700's.  Train, ransom demand, and double clutch pearl best balls I have ever had!

My original Train is as strong today as the day I got. In the OOB surface this ball has to be the go to ball for me when I have to get deep and wheel it. The Freight Train Is a little more mid-lane agressive for me, but both do just what they were designed to do,..
Hook and Hit. I hate to see it too, but eventually all balls are dis-continued, changing technology and the market base keeps the industry moving at a pretty fast pace, and I love that, just imagine if we had to wait a whole year for a new ball to come out...jime
