The Maniac
« on: November 10, 2008, 04:48:23 AM »
Was this ball released to the general public yet?  One of my friends who runs a pro shop said that one is on the way with my name on it, but when was or is the release date?
Thanks to revTrex for the adding in a few shots with the Maniac in the Bounty video, but will you or Britton be doing one on the Maniac soon?  This is one ball that I am really interested in and have been hearing good things about.
I'm not interested in the Bounty since my S-75 is plenty strong for me.  I want something more even rolling and the Maniac might be the one that i'm looking for.

Its filmed i just gotta edit it...i didnt film it until yesterday because i was playing with the surface.  With the layout i chose, the oob surface of 1000 was way too much.  Should be up in a day or two!

Lol... same thing I ran into as well Britton, thus the small number of shots with the Maniac in my video. The OOB surface was just too strong, and the ball picked up too early of a roll (forcing me deeper than I would have liked). What I can tell you, though, is that the ball is definitely smooth -- no real "flip" from what I can tell.

I should have a full length vid up around Thanksgiving.

So what kind of cover stock adjustment did you guys have to make?  2000, 4000, polish?  I'm not a high rev guy, more of a smooth stroker type.

Well, I'm going to start with just straight high gloss polish (I've had plenty of success with Beans, just like on my Bounty), and if that doesn't work, I'll make some other changes depending on what I want to see. I have a higher rev rate than Britton, but I think what we saw is probably similar... I just saw too much early roll and (as a result) the need for a carry-percentage lowering angle upfront...

Mine is very very versatile at a high gloss straight over box finish. Versatile and controlled roll with plenty of recovery and good solid thud at the deck. 1000 grit was far too strong for the stuff I see.
