We are missing something here
« on: February 09, 2010, 10:29:29 AM »
After looking at the "current" line, I see a few holes.  We go from a Break line with an S70 coverstock to the Lunatic line with a polished solid at S53?  I am only looking at the 900 Global brand only.  Where's the pearl Lunatic with a stronger cover like AMF's Clutch?  Then we go from the S53 solid Lunatic down to the S30 Link?  Looks like there's a few spots in here that may need help?  Personally, I'd like to see another symmetrical if not two of them.  Thats when the Pulse...err, sorry, the Creatures were the only ones available.  Can they make a strong S62 and stronger S75 symmetrical ball like they did in the AMF line? I love both brands, don't get me wrong.  I just think some things are missing which wouldn't surprise me if they have some more stuff coming up in the near/distant future.

I think eric's plan has been that you have to buy both brands in order to fill gaps.

+1 with icewall, I have a mix to cover all holes, can use any on a given night with exception of the BH for 3 games on our ever changing house shot. The BH is good for 2 games then even with hand changes and lines it just begins to become a fight near the end of the 2nd game.

I understand about wanting to have both lines being used to fill gaps.  Since it seems the 900 Global line is basically asymmetrical why not make the 2 brands separate?  This is what I was trying to get at here.  Some people throw better with symmetrical and others with asymmetrical (ok, i'm sure someone will say "technically, when you put holes in a symmetrical ball, it is now asymmetrical).  This still doesn't make sense though if we want to talk about the two different lines.  AMF line does have all the gaps filled.  900 Global doesn't anymore.

My arsenal consists of, a Pearl Break pin up and another with the ring finger drilled through the pin. I have a Creature Pearl pin up.  I have a Maniac pin up.  I also have the original Link with pin up.  On the AMF side, I just got a Sideways (drilled to retain energy and turn when it sees the spot, unfortunately, it arcs too much for my liking but very easy to read and predictable).  I really want to try the newer Breaks and re-release of the original but am skeptical.  I''m thinking of just going with a Mega Recovery and Pearl Clutch.  I do track high and my pap is 5 1/4 and 3/8 up,  that''s why all are pin ups.  Any thoughts?

I actually found the LE Mark Roth fits right in the middle of the Break Out and Lunatic. Take a look into that.

Awakening fits between the Lunatic and Link.

I'd bet they would say because the market isn't big enough. Hey, we're in an economic depression! We, the bowlers, are darned lucky we still have the choice we do have in bowling balls. Maybe you're REALLLLL lucky and it hasn't affected you yet. Butit has affected a lot of us.

All drilled balls are asymmetric. Not an opinion. There's just lower and higher mass bias strengths, smaller or higher intermediate differentials.

Sorry, we're not talking theoretical. We're talking practical. We have to talk about needs (practical), not desires (theoretical).

Remember, also, they have had to obsolete a whole bunch of great balls mostly because people didn't buy enough of them: Maniac, Creatures, Villains, Heists, S75, Break Pearl, The Code, etc. I'm also sure the BreakPoint and Breakpoint pearls are soon to join them.

FYI the Lunatic is a goner as well, new line I'm sure is being worked on and may have already been decided on, to be announced for Bowl Expo.

The AMF and Global lines seem to balance and compliment each other well.
