Will we ever see a S10 or S20 cover?
« on: April 20, 2009, 07:16:24 AM »
Just curious if anyone knows if Global has S10 or S20 in there plans anytime soon? I only throw 900 global and at least half my gear never sees any play. I bowl on light to dry at best and thats a fresh shot where I live! My black/red link sees the most use and is almost to strong. Would love to see a S10 or S20 somethime soon!

I'd skip the lane 1 idea, and I would try different some surface adjustments S10 or S20 would make the ball too weak to sell.

Another thought would be try to play a different part of lane and see if your reaction changes - you might just have too much friction way right - try tightening up... try 15 to 10 and stay behind the ball...

There is no maricle going to strike everytime ball...

but if you are going to correct me - check out his post - "I only throw 900 global" so why would you suggest something different?

He wanted to know if Global would release S10 or S20 - those would be too weak to market.

I agree with the recommendation to polish the Link.  Try Valentino's newest polish...it's called UFO.  That ought to weaken it enough.

You could even take a LINK and drill it weak and polish it - I like both Valentino's and Blackmagic - play a little summer is coming.  What lane surface is installed in your center?  There might be some better options then using a LINK...but still staying in the G900 family.

Sometimes you can get a stonger ball to work on certain lane surfaces?

I have asked for the very same thing. Maybe Maniac core with a S15 cover, but I was told there are no plans to make that weak of a cover. So for me I am using an AMF Orbit Extreme drilled weak and in oob form. This is alot smoother than my weak drilled link off the spot.

Agreed. On a Link, (Not the red/blue one), try a 5.5" - 6" pin to PAP, above the level of the bridge, Sand the surface to 4000 Abralon, then use a white Trizact pad (significantly finer than 4000 Abralon), then apply a strong dose of UFO. Burn it in, literally.

The result should be close to an S10 rating. If you don't use the white Trizact pad, it's be close to S20 - my best guess.

Dave,

I have the blue swirl link and it works great on a 3rd to 6th game shift. Mine is drilled fairly strong, so I bet you could tweak the cover like Charlest says, and it would work out.

The link I have now is drilled 5" pin to pap(under ring), mb strong. I drilled it kinda strong thinking that it would be a weaker piece. I took the cover to 2k + snake oil, still just a bit to strong. I do have a higher rev rate, 17.5 mph at the deck. I've ordered another one and plan to drill it 6" pin to pap(high above fingers), mb close to track, hopefully that will work. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Dave,

Try drilling one with a 1" pin... for me (also high rev and around 17-18mph) this makes the ball a LOT more controllable, and still doesnt hook much on lighter conditions.

Bugs, sorry meant a 1" pin-Pap...

I have this drilling on about 5 balls, and they all roll great.  Varying strengths of balls, but the best IMO are higher RG/Low diff.

If you watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FncGaFBPAHY you will get an idea of the kind of reaction I get out of my neptune.  I threw this actual ball at the Kegal training centre on CATS and I am at about 500-510 RPM, and I can still play that line

if you dont mind me asking, list the other balls with their full layouts for as.. as I am interested in seeing what you have put the 1" pin to pap drillings on.. I myself am about 17-18 mph with a good amount of hand(even trying not to put anything on the ball it usually hooks too much on the drier stuff).. I would like to find a drilling were I do not have to change my hand position(or my speed) all the time when the lanes dryout and I do not match up with any of the other balls I have brought with me at that time.. looking for some suggestions..?? thankss for your time.. slashrr69

You mean what all did I put the 1" pin on?

Neptune - Scuffed
Neptune - Polished
Mercury - Polished
Solaris - Polished
MTX (urethane blem) - scuffed
Xception 5.0 - Polished (this didnt work nearly as well as the others)

I have 4 Orbit extremes on their way to me at the moment, which I cant wait to drill... will be drilling at least one with a 1" pin!
