EPOXY balls???

I was reading something on the AMF 300 site about balls called e poxy or something like that.  Is this a Columbia 300 development that they will use on all their equipment or will they market the AMF balls like Brunswick did the Quantums back when?

Yes they are working on an epoxy based coverstock. It is more durable and longer lasting than the current covers and also disperses oil.

Froim what I have seen it's an impressive technology that if introduced will make things very interesting since they need to be worked and cared for differently.

This is quite the opposite of what we have heard in this area.  "More reliable and predictable" performance, prehaps, but i would be surprised to see more than 500 games out of the current designs.

Yea I was reading one of the topics about this, and from what I've heard they are basically unusable they are so strong. They had a guy (dont remember who) throw a TNT, and he had to throw it straight up 5 and still didnt hit the head pin (there was so much oil) and threw the epoxy ball and it went to the left gutter.

Seeing as how he throws AMF, I talked briefly to Dick Weber about this when he was in town for a senior PBA event. He said that they are still working things out with these, but, from what he said, they sound very interesting. I can't wait to see what comes of them.

Just wondering, does anyone have any more info on whether these balls will ever be released or not? Seems like this would be around the time that was predicted the epoxy balls were supposed to be released.

As an AMF pro shop, I get one of every ball released, and they guaranteed 8 in 2004, and we only have had 7, so I am expecting something soon to come out and this might be it.

It will be very surprising if the ball makes it to the market by march of 2005.
But once they fine tune the chems for the shell,watch out,the balls will be just awesome !!!
And a little note, those ball that hooked so much,only had pancake weight blocks,so image what a strong core design would do with those coverstocks.
