Mega Friction Video
« on: March 06, 2009, 11:10:01 AM »
Ball is drilled 5 x 5, surface is OOB -- and yes, it deserves the warning label. It is versatile enough to see use on medium-heavy conditions after surface changes, though, and it does have surprising recovery and hitting power from deep inside angles for a particle ball.

Tom,

Was that you throwing that sick ball?

Far too bizarre when I have to throw a polished Blue/Green Centaur 18/19 mph to keep it on the lanes. :d

Yep, it's me -- and I feel your pain about having to throw "less powerful" equipment. I threw a 268 in league today with a Mineralite off the rack, lol, throwing in between the second and third arrows out to about the 8 board. Had a really nice reaction, haha. Certainly, the Mega Friction hooks a lot -- but it probably won't see much time out of my bag until the team event at Nationals.

Ball does look sick. Mine will be here on Tuesday. I can't wait to se how it works for us rev challenged folks. Hvae you had a chance to compare this with the Bounty?

For me, the Mega is about three-four boards stronger (change with feet, and at arrows) if you compare the two OOB, a difference that might readily be masked on some typical house shots. The primary difference, though, is where the two balls hook -- the MF really reads the midlane, whereas the Bounty pushes just a touch further. Compared to the Break series, you see the same thing... the Breaks just push a touch further (and are more angular) than the Bounty (which in turn makes them "less ball" than the MF). [on edit: This isn't to say that the Bounty and the Break series balls don't read the midlane well, just that the MF hooks earlier and has a slightly more rounded breakpoint shape -- but more overall hook -- than those balls.] Hope that helps!

For the video, it was OOB. With surface changes, you can get the ball to handle somewhat lower volumes (medium-heavy), but no amount of polish is going to let you play on scorched lanes. It's good at what it was designed for: hook.

Hi Rev
very nice ball , but
what's the pattern on this video, so i can compare with my bounty that on a challenge pattern (Beaten path) is a Beast.

It's just a THS for the video, as the purpose of the video is really just to show the ball motion path and the overall hook potential the Mega Friction has to offer.

From my testing on a variety of patterns and lane surfaces, however, I can give you a comparison between the MF and the Bounty. See my earlier response in this regard.
