Nigh Hawk Tourque Pearl
« on: February 01, 2005, 12:15:29 AM »
Guys for all intents and purpouses, couldn't I take this ball and set it up for lighter oil conditions or would that defeat the purpouse in the first place? I have the Angle Evo Tour 2 for med. to med heavy and Hawk for med. med light. I know that the NHTP would overlap the Hawk NIB, but I was thinking that since it's pearl already, I could do some coverstock preparation and a length drilling to set it up for lighter oil. I'm sort of on a budget so I'm trying work with what I have. What do you guys suggest?

So I take it that this was a silly question to ask in the first place huh? Ok, point taken. Guess it was stupid question to begin with.

I don't know much about this ball, but I would think with a far Pin to PAP distance and some polish it could work for drier lanes.  I'm not a big fan of going against the nature of the ball, but if you already have the ball and don't have a need for it as it was intended, a good ball driller can get it to do what you want.

On a different note, give your post more than 2 hours before you get discouraged and give up.  Most of us are at work and for some odd reason our bosses prefer that we actually work instead of surf the net.

If you haven't drilled the Hawk yet, I would give it a length drill for your lighter condition ball. That ball does get down the lane pretty well. AMF particle balls do tend to polish pretty well compared to others so you could adjust the cover as needed. I don't think it would ever be a good dry lane ball but you should be able to set it up where they would make a nice 2 ball arsenal.

Sounds like good plan to me.

Dan, what is the "nature" of the NHTP anyway? Skid/Snap right? If that's the case I'm definitely going to have it set-up differently, because I really don't like skid/snap reactions. I could play with it no problem, but I don't think that playing lighter oil conditions with skid/snap is the best move. Mabey it's just me.

Like I said, I don't know that much about that ball, but what I do know is that the NightHawk balls had strong cores, and fairly strong coverstocks.  And I've always been of the mindset to drill strong balls strong.

Maybe this will help

I to have this ball still in my bag and its strickly used for oilier lanes,it has plenty of backend and trying to get it to work on dry lanes might be harder to do.

my Torque Pearl Out hooks everything I own and had before.

I'm not trying to be sarcastic here, BUT...
If you don't like skid/snap balls, why would you set up the nighthawk torque pearl for that kind of reaction?

And - why would you take a ball like this - very good ball, and try to get it to do something it wasn't designed for? You won't like it - in fact, will probably hate it, then blame the ball.

It's like being disappointed with a turnip because it doesn't taste like a peach!
