linds shoes
« on: June 14, 2005, 12:59:18 PM »
i was talking with my pro shop operator today and the subject of linds bowling shoes came up. he says two of his three distributors will not carry/handle linds any more because the quality control is so poor since production went to mexico. that's a shame. i've never worn linds shoes but i always heard the quality was very high while they were made in this country. i guess that's changed now.

From what I understand Lind's has changed production again and has moved to China.  The move was made because of the poor Mexican construction.  Quality has supposedly greatly improved.  You might check with Lind's and find out.  Many shops do not carry them but do order the shoes.

I wear Linds Wedge shoes (had them 8 weeks). I love them. I have nothing to compare to other than my 14 year old Dexters (lane shoes would be better than those as they were so worn out, chunks of rubber were falling off!). I see no quality issues, but they are too new to comment on longterm issues.

This is one major, actually THE reason why I ordered a 2 pair of Linds EXXXtras before the actual move to Mexico.

As things stand right now, I cannot recommend Linds at all. I'd see how ABS shoes stand up and how they can do what is needed.

I tried Dexters V'sfor a 3 months span in the late 1990s; they needed repairs within that 3 month span, for threads separating and a sole coming off. I've had Linds since 1983, with any pair lasting 12-15 years with ZERO repairs ever needed!

My best friend is using a pair of the white (well they're more of a cream color now) Linds classics. He got them from his father 13 years ago. His father had been using them since about 1979.

All I can say is... they sure don't make 'em like they used to.

I switched I think a couple of years ago in August to Etonic Classics when they first came out.  I wanted something like the Lind's classics but was afraid of the Mexican quality.  They have been a lot better in performance and hold up well so far.  I wear them sometimes 4 days a week for 4 plus hours at a time.  They have better arch support and the non slide foot gives better traction.  There are still 2 pair of Lind's in my closet and 1 pair of Brunswicks.  My gripe with Lind's is that there are behind in technology.  They are uncomfortable to stand in for hours.  Dr. Scholl's inserts are a must.

I understand the " being comfortable " issue. I had a pair of Linds that I bought in the early eighties, but it got to the point because of bad knee's and ankles that I had to swich to something with more cushion. I purchased a pair of Dexter sst 5 lx's and I love em.

Just change the inserts. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than buying new shoes. It's the inserts, for the most part  that governs your comfort. A pair of Scholl's will do wonders, for any shoe.
