SST 5 and a dragging the toe.
« on: September 04, 2004, 02:56:32 AM »
I have SST 5's and I like the shoe's. The problem is the rubber tip on the grip shoe. I've always had a problem with dragging the toe on the trailing foot , with the buckskin tips it was no problem. But that rubber tip has always bothered me,it acts like brake when I bring my foot around.
Its gotten worn down alot now and is not as bad.
Was wondering can it be replaced with a buckskin tip or  some other idea on how to let it slide across and not drag.

i had the same problem with sst 5 and sst 6.  i currently use the abs shoe with the toe cap.  the toe cap is replaceable.  i have been in them only for the last 2 months, so we shall see.

i don't think his problem is that they are wearing out, just that it is an annoyance for him when he drags his foot. I really don't know what to suggest for you, though.

Yes I dont care about the  wearing out of the tip. Its as my foot starts to slide behind me I feel the rubber tip rubbing the approach and sometimes it throws off my slide. I would have prefered the old buckskin (leather) tips.
I figure as it wore out I might could have it replaced with a buckskin tip. Or maybe try one of the stick on nylon slide things and cut it to fit just the tip.
But I dont know how well it would stick to just the rubber tip.
I had a pair of dexter Oronos with one of the first rubber tips and it did the same thing, then one day it popped off.(the tip) and it worked great after that.
I figure if I have to I'll just get the rubber tip took off and see if they can put a buckskin tip on at the shoe shop.

was just looking for any other options.

there are some "plastic" strips you can buy that some people use on the braking heel to reduce the brake. It is very slick. Might be able to stick a strip to your shoe toe. My wife used them on her heel and it really stops the drag.
Ask your proshop. I think it is some kind of silicon
