Stability socks
« on: July 09, 2012, 03:42:40 AM »
Anyone else tried the Stability Strikes socks? They are strange to me. Put them on and don't really notice a differance. Then put on bowling shoes and it's like wow. They are supposed to help with knee, foot, and back pain. I can't verify that part as I don't have those pains anyway. I can tell that they feel great and do seem to provide a good deal of support.

Here's what Jef Richgels said about them when and his team tried them.  I am tempted to try them on his review.

Is there a site for STABILITY SOCKS?

It's in Rigg's article, Joe.

Anybody know how much these cost? There is no pricing information on the website.

Call the number on the site and ask. I got mine from a pro shop here. I know at least 2 here that sale them. I paid $14.

 Initial use:

was still hesitant because I hate when socks stay at the ankle,
but I forced myself to put them on. They're more like an injury bandage, almost.
They do grip the area between the toes and the heel like a neoprene bandage
just not quite that firmly. They are also very thick. My 3G Tour Ultras are comfortable
when I put on thick winter socks and slightly looser when I put on light summer socks.
I could barely get them on. Once on, for the 4 games I bowled, I never gave them a 2nd
thought, not even about my ankles not being covered. I was surprised.
After bowling, my feet felt slightly better than normally they do after 4 games,
about 50 minutes of bowling.

So, if they have that effect, I'd say they were worth it.
My only qualm: instructions say to wash after EVERY use.

Next use:

"Tried" to use them tonight, first night of league.
Put them on and they felt cramped, in a major way.
It rained all day and was so muggy, my eyeglasses fogged up
when I stepped from the car. REALLY, really humid.
By the end of the first game, I gave up on them. My feet felt like they were in a
vise, in a torture device. May never use them again, but will try again, in any case.

Seems like, as much room as my bowling shoes, 3G's Tour Ultra, the most expensive set,
have, there isn't enough room for these socks. As I had said, there's plenty of room for my densest winter socks.

Shame.

I originally bought two pair to try. I have since bought three more pair.

Do they make you a better bowler? Sorry, I can't say that they do. But they do cut down on the fatigue from standing for several hours at a time. So for longer format tournaments and 5 person team leagues, they are great.

I got a free pair at a tourney that I bowled. Put them on right before I threw the first frame and they took some getting use to. I am not one of the people that like ankle high socks, but that was the only thing that I didn't like about them. They are very comfortable, give good support. I am a diabetic so I always wear good socks with lots of padding.

Are they similar to the socks that have the arch support? My mother uses a magnetic band that fits around the middle of her foot (Mainly the arch)  and she loves them.

I would start to talk about the reflexology benefits to them, but that's another topic. :)

Maybe so, the part that fits around your arch is more snug than the toes and heel. But the entire sock seems to compress more than a regular sock.

The sole and heels have a lot of thick padding in them which is very nice.

these might make sense for me, since I broke my slide foot ankle a couple months back. if only they would guarantee more revs...
