Ball question
« on: June 08, 2004, 09:54:38 PM »
I am not really a newbie at bowling.  I have been bowling for approx 12yrs.  However, I am far from an expert.  I do not know/understand a lot of the terminology and such.  Anyways, I am looking to buy a new ball and not sure where to start really.

I do not really know any of the pro shop guys in my area (Raleigh, NC) and haven't heard the greatest things bout the guy at the pro shop in the house I bowl in.  SO, I really don't know where to turn and could use some advise.

I have been told, I throw the ball rather fast.  I could not begin to tell you revs and such.  Right now, I stand approx center on back set of dots.  I throw along the 2nd arrow.  Right now, I would say i have very little to almost no hook.  Now the ball I have presently is almost 8 yrs old and has never been resurfaced, so I'm sure this is why.  When I first bought this hammer, it use to hook a lot for me.

I am not really looking to change my game/form.  I would like to find a ball that would have good back end hook on it.  From what research I have done and to the best of my ability of being able to "compare" my style to other posters, the below list are the balls I think may work best but would like some feedback!

Hammer Big Blue Perl
Hammer Vicious Reactive Pearl
Dyno-Thane The Thing Returns
Columbia Messanger Ti Pearl

Please provide some of your thoughts/recommendations and why.  If there is any additional info I can provide. please let me know!

Finster, you're in luck.  Use the messaging system on here to contact Joe Falco.  He lives in Raleigh, knows all the shops in the area.  Pretty sure he can hook up with you, maybe bowl a few games and make some recommendations.

Even with specific information about your game, any recommendations I would make would still be slanted towards what works best for me.
