Practicing while not at the alley.
« on: February 09, 2009, 01:34:54 AM »
Does any know any good practice drill while not on the lanes? Lets face it I can not afford to practice very much anymore because of the cost. Are there any drills or anything that I can work on while I am not at the bowling alley? Let me know.

Thanks.

Wii bowling. Cost nothing per game you play.

If you have tile or linoleum floors than you could practice your approach, just remember to just wear socks. It will help with your timing as well

True. I can rev the ball up pretty fast(cranker on that game)but it still goes straighter than what it would really do on real lanes. I throw it at the 7-8 board and it hooks back to the pocket. Fun game and free, after you buy the wii that is.

Pick up a Nerf football that accommodates your span. You can toss it up and mimic the release.

Preferably you could toss it into a wall and mimic your swing and release if it doesn't bother anyone, and possibly do a one step approach with it.

The great Earl Anthony recommended this in a book he co-wrote.  I would love this to practice my timing and releases.

I'm a little nervous about laying down a strip of linoleum on top of the concrete in my basement... would it be too hard a surface to throw my ball on?

Linoleum on carpet should be fine, as long as you're not going for any loft! I used to do the Dick Ritger foul line drills in my hallway at home onto a thin piece of carpet over concrete.
