Practice video
« on: June 27, 2008, 07:45:32 AM »
Just a video of me and 2 other guys bowling. We're bowling on a second shift cheetah pattern with a good bit of carry down. Mostly i just wanted to make this video for fun. What do you guys think of the effects, music? Yes, i know the quality is pretty bad but it was my first time and i couldn't really get a good angle, due to the other people bowling to the right of us. Well just looking for some advice on the video itself, not so much our bowling styles. Thanks for watching. I'll be soon making some more vids and hopefully getting better at it.

ok.

some will give more detail and better advice but just a few general thoughts:

- keep your balance (all of you) at the foulline... esspecially keep your upper body steady

- release: Try to avoid coming around the ball... true revs and strong hook comes from just going with the hand up and not turning around the ball... you actually take power and revs out of the ball when you come around it

Here are seom vids:
Chris Barnes (Brunswick Promo Vid but his release is imho one of the cleanest and best - of course other pros also have clean and good releases)
Turn off the "bla bla" or don't even watch if you don't like Chris barnes
( I mean turn off the sound and just watch):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xjdDJYKqPI
at 0:42, 1:20 and 1:53
(keeps his hand behind the ball just pushing it but creating revs with the upswing of the arm... you can also pull your fingers.. )

same here... a good Vid imho:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqaB7-rSf00

or just take a look at the Vids on my SIG.
this is the one fpr the release: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGIyYa5egu8&feature=related

but also take a look at the others for approach... etc...

overall... not a bad start! Keep going and have an eye for each other to correct this and that.

There are three major things in bowling that are most important:
timing
balance
fun

the last is most important keeps you motivated

god hes just a kid, prince is there any reason u are such a dick? seriously
kids just wanting some help. and frankly kids look like they are heading in the right direction. the left hander id say needs to start his push away a lil sooner. timing is a bit late so on the 2nd step start to push the ball out
that should help quite a bit. GOOD luck on the lanes! if u are the right hander. just get  a lil more knee bend and i think u got the right tools ur doing great !

Hey prince, Red Sox > Yankees, end of story. Okay, back on topic.

But to you other guys, I'm the one in the gray shirt. I do have an unorthodox style, but it seems to work for me. I threw a 300 this past season and averaged 206 in high school for my senior year.

The one in the yellow is my brother. He's only 15 and I'm trying to work with him. He's definitely improved over the years.

Thanks for you input guys.

nevertheless there is always something to improve.
Which is why you put the Vid online and asked us, no?

and now that I know you in the vid I say... keep your right shoulder a bit more forward... the shoulders more parallel to the foulline tzo avoid coming around.

Believe me you will be astonished how much more energy you get into the pins.

Balance 0:52

When you are off balance you miss your shot... you don't get a clean release... two major flaws.

Just my thoughts.

timing I cannot comment... I would say make a shot from more behind not taking the ball going down but you actuially bowling.
a good angle would be from behind and from "right-behind" ... and if possible from somewhere in front of you.

But hey... good bowling anyway!

Keep it up!

(wish I could say I am that good...)

I thought you did a great job on the video. Hard to believe it's your first time! Titles were good and the music was ok (not a fan of that music but it seems to fit in)! Good job!

work on your accuracy the little lefty and the guy wearing gray gotta start bending their knees, it is easier to be accurate.

Start being a Yankees fan it will help and if you can't do that, be a Green Bay Packer fan then you will be watching the best and thus start bowling like the best.

Finally, someone who actually read my entire first post, thank you.

Please quit the yankees discussion, bowling and baseball don't belong in this thread.
