5" pin to PAP below fingers, 7/8" hole 2 1/4" down the VAL, OOB finish

This cover reads the lanes better than the pearl, and can handle a little more oil. Personally, I like the longer pins, even on a low diff ball, and I'll use a weight hole to open up the flares like with this ball. The rings were on top of each other to start so I was getting an inconsistent reaction and now they are about 1/4" apart. The ball reads the lane better and goes through the pins when my angles are tight. I'd really have to get around the ball to open up the lanes, but I have other balls that are better for that. I want to be able to stay in the same zone when they start to break down, and this ball will let me.

Ball Specs
The ball being drilled was a 3” pin out with 3.00 oz top weight.
Drilling: Pin 4 1/2" from PAP and Mb 4" from PAP, 1 1/2" in Buffer. Pin is above ring finger. Weight Hole on my axis. Factory Polished.

Bowler Information:
Track diameter is 10 1/2.
PAP is measured at 5 1/4 over and 3/8" up.
Average ball speed (foul line to head pin) is 16 mph.
Axis rotation is typically 90 degrees
Initial rev rate is typically 300 rpm, "Tweener"
Lane Condition and Pattern:
Bowlero Lanes, HPL 9000 Panel. Oil Pattern: THS condition medium oil outsides, heavier oil inside, semi clean backends.

Review:
A great low priced skid/snap ball. A must for medium to dry lanes. As long as the backends are clean the ball is awesome. If you are bowling on longer oil patterns or your speed is fast, this is not the ball for you. Rev dominant players will love this ball. Don't let the low price fool you, this ball hits hard. If you liked the Teal Rhino when it was out, you will like this ball, A very similar motion. Compared to my other Brunswick Equipment, this ball is 5-6 feet longer down the lane and about 3-4 boards weaker then my Brunswick Swarm.

Brunswick Avalanche Slide
- 15 lbs
- Drilled 4 x 4 stacked with small weight hole on PAP
- Ball is high gloss finish
- PAP is 6 over and 1/2 up

I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this ball...it has been my "go to" ball ever since I got it...This ball's control and hitting power is unmatched...the light bulb core is proven and XD cover pushes it over the top...I mean even with the corners burnt, you will glide thru with ease to the break point and then hard arc to the pocket...Some of my recent series had 2 or more open frames and I still posted 220 or better avg...This ball has a permanent space in my bag for sure....Definitely a winner....

drilled all 3 avalanche's, all the same way.  pin 1 1/2 above my middle finger and the cg slightly to the right of my center of grip.  

avalanche solid:
took the surface to 800
this ball is by far one of my favorit brunswick releases recently.  the way it is now, it fits right above my twisted fury (because of the surface).  my first set with it was 804.  This coverstock is by far the best cover ever produced.  I've loved every ball that Brunswick has put out with this cover.  

avalanche slide:  
took surface to 1000
took surface back up w/ polish
i use this one more than any of the others.  it is more angular than the others and it fits right under my rattler.  it gets through the lane very easily and finishes strong on the back.  (it has made me the most money, winning a couple tournys and high sets in tournys)

avalanche pearl:
left box surface
this is the weakest of the 3 for me and it fits under my slide.  I use this toward the end of tournys or if i feel like playing straigher up the lane during league.  When i can use this ball it is a wonderful thing.  but most of the time theres a little too much oil and i have other stuff that does better in that area.  

over all, 3 OUTSTANDING balls that are a steal for the price.  pick these wonderful balls up and do yourself a favor.

In my years of bowling I have had some difficulty finding a bowling ball to use on dry lanes that would still hit the pins hard and carry for me - I found that exact look with this bowling ball. If the heads are drying up, or the lanes are just dry in general, this is the ball I go to. Mine is drilled pin above the bridge which creates some length anyhow, but with the combination of the coverstock it gets down the lane smoothly and still hits the pins without leaving flat tens or 2-8-10s. A must have for those with the same problem I had experienced.

This is the best ball for dry lanes that I have ever seen. My ball has a 3.5" pin and 2.75oz of top weight. the ball goes extreamly long and has a smooth yet angular break towards the pocket. If u hit the pocket with this ball u r 99.999% of the time going to strike.

Bowler Stats:
Right Handed
Speed:  17-18 mph on Qubica
Revs:  350-375
Rotation:  60 Degrees
PAP: 5 and 3/8 straight over

Lane Surfaces:
Thrown in at least 6 different houses with different surfaces.

Ball Layout:
60 x 5 1/2 x 70 (pin under the bridge due to measurements based on pap)
Surface=OOB
Weight hole: none needed

Intended Purpose:
I needed a ball that I could step down to when the lanes have dried out, but I am not ready to move my Power Groove.  I went with a longer pin to pap distance on this one (I had a shorter, more aggressive pin on an Avalanche Slide in the past and it was too aggressive) to help control the strength of this cover.  I was also looking for a ball that would allow me to get the ball down the lane easily and still maintain energy while not giving away the pocket.  If it makes sense, I was trying to turn it into a drier condition control ball.  

Comments:
Carry – I love the way this ball goes through the pins. It is continuous and due to the increase in energy, it really moves the pins side to side very well.  When I have thrown lower flaring balls in the past, I had a tendency to “ping” ten pins.  I don’t get that with this ball.  This ball looks like a more expensive ball going through the pocket.  

Likes - Works very well on lighter conditions. Cover is easy to manipulate.  I really like the different reactions that you can attain from wrist changes.  This ball plays straight up the boards really well, and if you increase the axis tilt, it will still corner very well (which allows for giving away the pocket).  I you can find friction you can use this ball with success.  I have had success using it on conditions that I shouldn’t have due to the fact that it will read friction very well and it rolls heavy enough to still carry.  

Dislikes –When I purchased my first Avalanche Slide, I drilled it aggressively because of the weight block.  That was a mistake.  This ball can be a little more aggressive than it is supposed to be, depending on drilling and the strength of the cover (this could be taken as a positive for some).

Overall: A good ball for tournament and house bowlers.  It can cover many conditions and it is a great ball for the price point.  This is a ball that can be a little erratic if the person using it is not consistent with their wrist position.  Carry is above average.  This is a go to ball.  When I am struggling, this one bails me out pretty well most of the time.

Drilled up my Avalanche Slide pin 5" to PAP (above bridge) with the cg kicked out about an inch and I have not altered its finish.

Avalanche Slide provides me with very good length, has nice transitions going between wet and dry and a surprisingly strong backend considering the price point.
To be honest, I was caught off guard by how much this ball hooked in the latter half of the lane, and would recommend weaker layouts as this ball is comparable in hook potential to the Green/Black, just it is a little longer with even more backend.  I find the most success with this ball going more sideways through dry lanes with this ball, and it does have the chops to saw out the 10pins from deep angles.  Part of that shape would be attributable to the layout, but I feel that the cover is the real winner here and would like to see PKXD on some higher performance pieces.  Length, backend and no squirty reactions through wet/dry/carrydown at a low price point - go buy one!
