3.5 Help
« on: February 25, 2010, 11:38:00 PM »
First let me say I love my 3.5 hits like a truck. The problem I am having is when I try to move inside and give the ball a little belly,  I can hear it clipping one of the holes down lane. I track relatively high and the ball is laid out pin above the bridge with the Mb about  1 to 1 1/2 inches  to the right of the thumb. How do I keep it from clipping? Release Problem? Add a hole to move the bow tie? My 2.5 is drilled the same way and I don't have the problem with that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Live in California as long as I have, and you know what I've learned?
9 times out of 10, the Mexicans do better work.

I'm not even a Brunswick guy, but I'm a firm believer in certain people matching up to certain cores and coverstocks.

If Brunswick gives you the best tools to score, then use them.  Plain and simple.

But, I don''''t really care, he''''s the republican, HE should.  That''''s my point.  If you are a republican it would only make sense to buy american AND american manufactured, IF YOU HAVE THAT CHOICE.  Bowling ball wise he CHOOSES to buy mexican manufactured when he could buy equipment made in the good ole US of A.  I''''ll readily admit they (my shoes) are made foreign.

Ask Monster Pike, he''s NEVER throw Brunswick.

And I don't care about your political opinion. Thats MY point.  This is a bowling forum.  Get off your high horse long enough to discuss a bowling ball or go chat somewhere else.

I would advise against a flare reducing hole. As this type of extra hole does reduce flare, but also brings the bowtie down a bit.

If you are using grips, and have tracked close to the finger holes before, I would make sure that you aren't clipping a raised grip.

If this isn't the case, I would add a a small weight hole either in the p3 or p4 position along the gradiant line, in accordance with Mo Pinel's directions on placement of weight holes. Or down your VAL 2.5"-3.5". Any one of these positions will raise the bowtie and, hopefully, get it to stop flaring on the finger hole.

I would start with a 3/4" hole 2.5"-3" deep. Use as small a hole as possible so as not to change reaction drastically. If the 3/4" hole doesn't do the trick, go up to a 7/8". Keep enlarging the hole slightly until it stops flaring over your finger hole. All the while making sure to keep the ball statically legal.
