3.5 to be fair (second outing)
« on: February 10, 2010, 04:37:50 AM »
Today's league is a fresh shot and I usually use my Virtual Gravity or Mega Friction.

But I started out with my Megaton, the ball I used last night to swing the lanes.  I was clean with a 204.  A ton of 10 pins, the Megaton was not driving the pocket.  I already expected this because of how far we are into the league.

So I pull out the C-System 3.5 and my ball speed was a little fast, then a little slow then off the sheet.  I could not really swing the ball except 10 out to about 8 but it shot off the break point really surprising me.

To go further if you want, I bought the 3.5 for position round last night because we were on lanes 1&2 and they oil in the morning then again in the afternoon and the lanes are rarely used during the day on Tuesday.  This usually leads us to have a very oily condition becaue 1&2 are usually very oily because the lane machine there is just warming up and puts out a ton of oil.  i had my Mega Friction, Virtual Gravity thinking i was ready.  They palyed like very short oil.  So I thought that since I bought the 3.5 to open the lanes, this would be great.  No luck.  So I played deep with the Megaton and struggled.  Dummy me didn't bring a light oil ball.  Didn't think I'd need one.

Thanks for reading,

Nicanor, it is good to here that you got to use this ball. The ball is really good. I have one drilled RICO and belive me the ball needs oil. When it is too dry it will not hook, but on oil it is really good. Good luck with this ball and let me know if you need anyhelp.

So do you like your 3.5 or not?  Is it a ball you're probably going use a lot?

Third and fourth outing, no luck.  So I don't think its a ball I'm going to use a lot unless I find longer oil (which is only one league).  If I drilled it differently or maybe adjusted the surface, I know I could use it on a variety of conditions.

The last two times I tried the 3.5 was when I was trying to open the lane and with no luck.  I thought the continuation would be better, but I have to believe it burned up.  When I played the longer oil the ball reved up beautifully and jumped off the break point with all the continuation I wanted, so I won't change the drilling or the surface.

I just ordered the Mission and I will drill it differently then the 3.5 in hopes it will be a good 1-2 combination.

I am getting my Mission drilled this afternoon.  I want to drill something else up as well but don't know what would compliment it the best.  I have a 3.5, Total Bedlam, and Invasion also NIB...

What drilling and surface is on your 3.5 Nic?

The drilling on my 3.5 is 45 X 4.5 X 70.  If i wanted a ball to handle a little less oil I probably would have drilled it 45 X 5 X 30, but that was what was recommended to me.  Beans will drill a Mission for me to compliment my 3.5.  I kept the surface in box and probably won't adjust the surface.  You can read what I wrote about the Invasion on the Storm forum.

I still haven't grasped the dual angle layout yet so where is teh pin, cg, and mass bias on your 3.5?  Do you have a weight hole?

The pin is under the ring finger mb kicked out toward the VAL.  I have a 3 1/4 pin.  Depending on PAP, it might lay out differently.

Have you looked at this website?
