difference between 1-2 inch pin and 3-4 inch pin
« on: February 09, 2007, 04:26:33 AM »
i am fairly new to the bowling game. just ordered an original inferno with a 1-2 inch pin and 3 ounce top weight.  i requested a 3-4 inch pin but they could not accommodate.  what is the main difference i am going to see?  i have an absolute with 3-4 inch pin and i love the action i get from it.  should i expect less from this short pin?  i need a lesson on pin length and top weight specifications.  can anyone help?

the difference is about 2"!  LOL

Just kidding. The shorter pin ball should be more rolly/archy than the longer pin ball which would tend to be more skid/flip. If you got a shorter pin, look for it to roll earlier and have a good backend arc! It all depends on the layout also!

With a shorter pin the ball reaction tends to be sooner.

It only seems that shorter pins have earlier reactions because the pins generally need to be placed under the fingers to keep all the statics legal.

Longer pins generally get placed above the fingers, giving natural length.

I just had an idea for a new comparison video.
