Maxxxx Zone layouts
« on: November 17, 2008, 02:47:21 PM »
I'm lookin for reviews on Max Zone layouts for strokers.  The kid is looking for something to handle larger volumes of oil.  I suggested the Maxx zone.  Anyway, kid is a pure stroker, 15mph, 250 rpm.  He is pretty good and quite accurate.  He is currently averaging 210+.  I was thinking something in the 4" pin to pap area.

Just looking for reviews.

I haven't really thrown mine enough to provide a complete review, but I can share my experiences with the Maxxx.

I drilled mine with the pin 5" from PAP, above the fingers, with no XH, and I left it in box finish.  I've used it on a fresh league shot with a decent amount of friction, in a second-shift league on Pro Anvils, and in the first block of a tournament with a house-type condition.  What I've seen so far is that the Maxxx is so strong off of the friction that it lets me get quite a bit further into the oil, and yet it doesn't quit at the turn when I give it room.  Despite the box finish, the Maxxx doesn't labor for me in the front part of the lane.  Perhaps as a consequence of this, I *do* have to get the ball to the friction, otherwise it'll want to push too far through the volume.

I'm looking forward to trying the Maxxx on a flatter high-volume pattern where I can play a more direct line to the pocket.

Hope this helps.

Mine is 4 1/2 from PAP above the fingers, extra hole. I adjusted the surface to 2000 abralon for my best reaction.

For higher volumes of oil, I'd try it with the factory surface first. But he may end up around the 2000 finish as well.

I have found that when I'm playing the lanes correctly that the Maxxx can be very strong through the pins. I am tempted to use it every time I'm on fresh patterns (but resist because I don't want my Copperhead and Ultimate to get lonely).
