I Switched from 15lbs. to 14lbs....
« on: April 27, 2006, 04:52:24 PM »
ANYONE ELSE TRY THIS? RESULTS?

I used 15lbs... I was a cranker with good speed.
About 6 months ago I shortened my drill span, changed my thumb pitch, moved up a foot closer on the approach, reduced my speed a little and stopped cranking it really hard.

I became a refined cranker with more control, with less speed, but still a decent amount of hand.  I noticed a left a good deal of 9 pins and had trouble getting my ball to my break point.

So I drilled an Asolute Inferno  14lbs, drilled 1:30 label... and let me tell you something.   It is effortless to set up my break point, and the ball carries very well.  I think I am gonna drill 3 more 14lbs balls and see what happens,

SO FAR ITS UNBELIEVABLE... ITS SO EASY TO READ MY BREAK POINT AND ROLL THAT PERFECT BALL, plus I get a little more distance, allowing y ball to set up hard and really yank to the hole.

I am in complete agreement with Wallshot on every point made.

Norm Duke = 16.  Walter Ray was 15 and couldn't win went back to 16.

I bowl on a vicious wet dry...14 will carry fine.

A couple of years ago bowled on a shot that stymied all the best lefties in our town down into the 205 to 210 range.  Turned out that there was a mysterious stripper problem on the left only...all year carry was abysmal for all of the lefties except one...he used 16.  Finally in the last month the mysterious problem cleared up and both the 16 pounder kept carrying as did the now beaten down lefties at 15!  16 pound guy came in with his usual 220 the other guys all maxed at about 211.  At a regular clean backend center they were all around 220+.

PS 14 CAN work...give me your fresh backends!
