Ultimate Inferno shell sucks
« on: August 21, 2006, 07:07:48 AM »
After 30 games the coverstock was so soaked with oil the ball just skidded and went dead........

Brunswick can make damn good pearl coverstocks, but they aint got nothing on columbia for solids..

Lane#1 is better off with Columbia

That's interesting....all 4 of the UI's I've had, didn't show any problem until after I threw it over 200 games..

Columbia's old school stuff are amazing.  If I can find the discontinued stuff from C300 I'll buy it, but the newer stuff....not so much.

Possible troll alert?  Man this guy sounds exactly like our old buddy Cranking_Inferno.  I'd be willing to bet CI got himself another username.

For whatever reason, I have seen some Ultimates lose a lot of punch.  Not after 30 games, and probably easy to remedy with a bucket of hot water and some dawn.  From what I've seen with it around here, I never understood why people liked the Ultimate so much.  It seemed too strong for medium patterns, but wouldn't handle the heavy stuff.  I guess different lanes and oil patterns can make a big difference.

Mine was about 25 games and it "went dead". But keep in mind that this ball is a heavy oil ball, so if you're throwing on the condition that it's intended for then it will get oil logged much quicker than a ball that you only throw on dry lanes.

Yeah no kidding man, my UI did the same thing. I'm done with Brunswicks solids for awhile until the find a way to fix it. Not worth getting a ball for 30 games.

Sounds like a lot of people on here don't know how to take care of bowling balls. Activator solid is one of the best best covers on the market. And the Ultimate Inferno won ball of the year incase anyone forgot

Never had a problem with my UI, had this ball for about 6 months and it's still my go to heavy oil ball. I clean after every set when I get home from the center, with Black Magic Plus.

I had the same problem with my strike zone, and i havent put 30 games on it yet.  The scorchin cover is awesome, ive put well over 30 games on it and it the cover still just eats the oil up.

Ball maintenance, ball maintenance, ball maintenance....It cannot be stressed enough.  Cleaning is not the only thing you have to do to maintain the oob reaction.  CPR, Hook Again and Rejuvenators are there for a reason folks.  My UI started fading after roughly 21 games.  I clean my gear before and after each match.  I used Hook Again at the first sign of performance loss and it came right back.  My UI has so many games that I can't even attempt to put a number out there.  It's still as good as day 1.
