Which is stronger??
« on: November 07, 2004, 12:55:30 PM »
Intense or Original?

I was under the impression the Intense was longer and more angular.  My proshop guy told me today that the few Intenses hes seen are stronger than the original.  I would like to try the Intense but if it is stronger I may pass this one up for the Punisher.

I have both. The Intense is longer for me. My corner pin carry is better with the Intense also. The original seems to give me better control however.

From what I have seen, the Intense goes a touch longer and is more around the corner.  I would bet if you drilled the two exactly the same with the same specs, you will notice the Intense going a couple feet longer and the breakpoint being more defined.  I have seen that the regular Inferno tends to be strong, but more controlled on the backend compared to the Intense.  The Intense APPEARS to be stronger because the backend is more snappy compared to the original. On the technical side, what performs better under heavier conditions or carrydown is going to be considered stronger.  I believe that under these conditions, the original is going to be stronger for the sheer fact that it wants to roll sooner.

I was wondering if I was the only experiencing that as well. I have noticed that my intense is almost the same as the inferno except it goes slightly longer than the inferno, but for me it could be due to I have the OI polished up a bit and the II is somewhat not box, it isnt polished it looks as though the polished has been slightly knocked off. The drills are different on mine. Its drilled with the pin below the finger on the intense and the OI is drilled somewhat stack leverage. Im actually interested in the punisher myself so im not sure. I agree with some of the others the original has a little more control but when you find the right condition for the intense it will stand out big time. The intense no matter what does have a cool look.

No, not the only one.  My original is about two boards stronger than my Intense.  However, the two have *very* different hook shapes;  the original starts up earlier and is more continuous, while the Intense pushes through the midlane more and has an almost flip-like move in back.

And I'm on a Fuze Eliminator & Intense Inferno ride. The Fuze bumped my Zone Classic out of the league bag & the Intense bumped my Fire Quantum. Zone is still in the tournament arsenal though.

Well, my OI is drilled 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 which puts the pin above my ring with the cg kicked out.  It is very touchy when it encounters any carrydown.  I have it 400 grit wetsanded and then polished.

If drilled the same would the II be stronger in the carrydown or not?  I was thinking about drilling one 5 x 4 with the pin below my fingers.

Any thoughts?

As far as I can tell, the original Inferno is a very versatile ball for a wide range of conditions, from medium to heavy oil.

The Intense Inferno has a more angular hook, but it needs dry boards to show its potential, and less oil in general. Looks spactacular, but can easily become a bit itchy. Good show effect, but nothing more.

Cannot tell about strength on carrydown, but I guess that the original Inferno will be easier to handle on this, and more versatile in general. On drier boards the Intense will have an edge, it will depend on which conditions you want to play.

Compared to the BVP Punisher the Intense will be the stronger/better ball.
