Which one?
« on: July 26, 2006, 06:24:53 AM »
I want to get a ball that would be good for medium oil. I was thinking the Red Zone or the Smokin' Inferno. I have low-med revs, medium speed, down and in.

I could possibly get a Power Groove Dry/R from my friend for $50. Would that be a good replacement for the Sling?

Not in my opinion. It's a weaker core and cover. The Dry/R would go below the Sling Blade on the "strength" chart.

Ok, then in my current arsenal, what should I replace? I can get a Zone Classic for $50 shipped or a Absolute Inferno for $60 shipped.

I would get the Zone Classic.  IF you replace anything, maybe the Ace.  At $50 shipped, it would be a huge steal if you can get it.

I was thinking of getting a light oil ball that hooks less than my Sling Blade. The ace is an awesome ball. Any opinions for light?

I wouldn't replace anything because like Steven (TWOHAND) advised, you shop look at a stronger reactive pearl ball. My gut tells me to get the Classic Zone if I take your stats into account. That is, unless you can get a Rampage or other ball he mentioned for the same prices.

Like I said I want a ball that's more for light than the Sling Blade.. that hooks too much.

Yeah but to replace what ball? You can't replace an Ace... it's just too good.

I could get the Zone Classic but where would it go? I can't really put it in the Ace's place... is there any way I could drill it for more of a light oil ball? It's such a good price it's hard to turn down.

My advise was to NOT repalce anything and get the Classic Zone for a diffeent look on medium conditions. The only way to make it anywhere near a light oil ball is to drill the pin 5+ inches from your PAP or stack it with the CG over the bridge of the fingers and sand it up toi at least 2000 grit and then polish it.

HALLELUIA!!!!  LOL!!!  Anyways, you did not mention you were looking for something under the Sling initially.  If that was the case, I would have recommended something like a Tornado, Scout R, or Power Groove.  Since you initially said for mediums, I thought the Zone Classic was the best choice of the balls you mentioned.
