Wondering about Intense Inferno
« on: April 17, 2005, 09:22:42 AM »
I am a low rev player with med speed and already have a ball for medium-light oil, im looking for medium-heavy oil ball and was wondering if the intense would be a good choice, since i can get it pretty cheap and i hear it does well in med-heavy oil but do you guys think it will hook with my lower revs ? i try to go straight up, nothing big. over between 1st and 2nd arrow plz help me

Personally, I'd think you'd do better with something else, for medium-heavy.  I'd recommend a Nemesis.  Some people say the II is condition specific, and besides, though I don't have one, i don't think a higher-rg pearl would work for a low rev stroker in med-heavy oil.  Well, what I mean is it COULD work possibly, but you'd be better off using something else.

well im willing to dull it up a bit like 800 grit or so, when you say condition specific, for what condition?

It depends on the bowler.  That's why a lot of people are iffy about it.  It's different for everyone.  Some people can use it alright on different conditions, others can use it on one specific kind (like drying heads, sloppy backends).  I still say go with a ball that's actually made for the condition.  Even an absolute inferno would be better for med-heavy than the intense.

I don't think this ball is what your looking for. a ak57's suggestion of the nemesis would probably match up better for you. Besides it should be cheaper than the II.

If you're truly a low rev player, then it is doubtful if the Intense will suit your needs, for medium-heavy oil, WITHOUT sanding it duller, maybe as much as 600 grit. If it is worth the risk to you, money-wise, then sanding it can make a big difference.

I wouldn't recommend the Intense for the conditions you are looking for. For me, the Intense doesn't do that well playing over the first and second arrow. It begins to shine though when you have dry heads, carry down and can play inbetween the second and third arrow, over third arrow, between third and fourth arrow, and over the forth arrow. For me I can play the Intense in a variety of patterns but for others it doesn't seem to be that versatile. I would say keep looking.

The way my friend LoudstrikerXXX bowls, that ball will hook on any volume of oil, all it needs is a dry backend. These lanes where my Ultimate goes pretty straight and it is not burning up like in other centers, the II goes long and just has a strong arc back to the pocket and does not give up. so if you have clean backends, this ball will do wonders. i think Loudstrikerxxx has it drilled for strong midlane roll and big backend and that ball does just that.

Easton, I thought you were set on getting an AI??? Is it too expensive? I would get either the AI, or as others have suggested, a Nemesis. I have not EVER heard anyone talk bad about either ball.
