What is so special about these balls, does the urethane ring work?? I just dont' get it, I mean it looks cool, but other than that why use a ball that it over 10 years old. Someone educate me lol.

Urethane Strip slides on the heads, retains energy, ball flares onto the resin and releases the energy much later than a single surface bowling ball.

Great ball for spotty heads.

The reaction might be similar to taking a polished ball and sanding some of the back flares. Good skid in the front, more traction in the back.

And while it's very difficult to prove that someone is doing this, this technique is illegal in USBC santioned leagues and events.

I already have a Helix in my arsenal anyhow.  Picked it up a few years ago and out the door it was still less than the current bid for the one on eBay!

How much of a difference is there between the Single and Double Helix Mav?

I'm about 99% sure only the weight block is the difference.

Urethane Pearl Strip + PowerKoil18 End Caps.

Black/Gold Helix has a Mushroom core.

Red/Blue Double Helix has a more compact sphere.
http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=728

Methinks the Mushroom core was too High of an RG, causing the ball to turn up too late.

Brunswick sold their whole Quantum inventory to the Sports Authority a while back. You could buy the Quantums for $39.95......Some people hoarded them and they must be selling them out finally.

So what is the difference between this ball and the left handed one? And could this ball be drilled for a lefty?
